Hi all

my car is porsche cayenne 2011,
so when i start the car from cold, normally the oil pressure will go to 2.0 bar, then will fall to 1.6 bar and this is normal since i bought the car from the dealer

while now, when i start the car from cold, the oil pressure will go straight away to 2.8 bar and stays there what ever i do, and only falls back to normal when i drive the car and oil temp will go to normal ( 100 C )

any idea what is going on, my friend told me it is an oil pressure regulator solenoid that is not functioning very well??

Changed oil lately? Perhaps the wrong weight was put in?

 

I changed the oil before 9000 km, always been using the same oil, but i will give it a go

I watched mine today ('11 Turbo) - and starting from cold (around 50F in the garage) - on acceleration it reached 3Bar. Under steady state (perhaps 1,800 RPM) it was at 2.5-2.8Bar. When the car warmed up a bit (oil still showing as cold) - probably 2.3-2.5Bar at 1,800 RPM.

I don't see anything scary about the numbers you're mentioning and they well might be entirely normal. 1.6Bar = ~24PSI. 3Bar=~45PSI. That seems a quite normal range and I wouldn't be concerned. If it pegged the gauge - then I'd be concerned.
