Steering Wheel Vibrating/Shaking.....
Hi Guys,
Need some help here! I am having vibrating/shaking from my Cayenne steering wheel... Even on the smooth road, it happens on varies speed.... But not constantly, some times it does, sometimes it doesn't....I have already road forced the wheels/tires, but the problem still exists... Did not hit any potholes or ran over anything particular....Anybody experienced this or have any suggestions what to do?
Also, I can feel a thud/knock/crack feeling when turning the steering wheel at parking lot speed... This happened after performed an alignment at an ind. shop.... Any idea what is it?
TIA!
JT

Wild *** guess since I'm not there.. probably something in the driveline was damaged or misaligned by the independent shop. I've found the local Porsche shop to be fairly competitive on alignment and wheel balancing, and the results have been good. They're used to dealing with the huge tires used on these things, and know how to get them right. At least mine is.

What was wrong before that you took it in for an alignment?
There's lots of reasons for low speed noises when turning. Driveline, steering gear, suspension, any combination might be involved. There's various bushings for control arms, tie rod ends, ball joints, etc.
I'd go back to the independent and ask them to explain.
