Cayenne TT 957 Turbocharger upgrade
#31
Ok guys here is a little set back. I Talked to FVD and gave them the mod list for the engineers back in Germany to calculate for this mods on their Piggy Back unit. The answer, that there is nothing they can do about it. This is either a way to have me buy their turbos or it's either true. I went researching AGAIN and looking deeply on their specs they say:
- New, lightened and larger billet compressor wheel with state of the art “extended tip”. ( 46.5 mm inducer).
Now if you guys look further, the 46.5mm diameter of this Billet Compressor Wheel corresponds to the 19T. Also they do not mention the use of a different Turbine wheel (11 blade or 9 blade). Someone here said that it's possible to use the 20T to get over 750+HP.
So the question for you guys is, could i've been told that they can't help me with the software because of the 20T compressor i told them i have on the list? or is it really a marketing stuff to have me buy the whole turbos from them?
If they did not change the turbine side, do you guys recommend changing it anyway? i'm interested in the 9 blade design because of the increase exhaust gas exit which gives more power.

Ok guys i found this:
http://www.ardideas.com/TD04HL-20T-P...ade_p_316.html
Seems that 20T is possible but with 11 Blade Turbine... Please let me know just waiting to order this.

Fvd is a 20T ( the onr with 700+ powerkit ) , the 650hp powerkit is a 19T . fvd in my opinion is bettet because they change the spring in the turbocharger as well in order to push 1.2 bar while the competitors change only the compresor .

FVD.US to the FVD.DE German Engineers question #1:
This client has a 2011 958 Cayenne Turbo with a big list of mods. Also do you have any idea what kind of power he would have?
- 82mm Throttle Body
- 82mm IPD Plenum from the 957 turbo s (couldn't fine the exact part number so i guessed it is IPD 57282)
- BMC Air filters
- Agency Power Diverte Valves (I was told down here i could use BOV valves, but i'm concerned on the recirculating air)
- Turbos Compressor Wheels TD04-20T
- Turbos Turbine Wheel 9-Blade TD04
- ARD Adjustable Wastegate Actuator
- FVD 100 Cell Catalytic Converter
- FVD LAM SIM
- FVD 958 618 90*** (Will Order Soon)
- Fabspeed Cat Bypass Pipes
- Supersprint Section 2 Center Pipe (X-Pipe)
- Fabspeed Exhaust System
ANSWER #1 from FVD Engineers:
"we don’t have a software file for this and would need the truck on the dyno, he wanted us to check if the module can handle larger turbos. They confirmed not having a file for these turbos. They are the same as the 957 turbos but we have not had a 958 Cayenne Turbo on the Dyno with them and currently it is not possible to program for larger turbos with the module. The Piggy Back Module that we have for the 958 Turbo cannot support the turbos. Sorry".
ANSWER #2 from FVD Engineers:
"The unit cannot adjust for the larger values (fuel, timing, boost) for the turbos. If we were programming right on the ECU like the 957 Turbo it would not be an issue".
ME:
Does this mean that I can upgrade everything else but not my turbos? Correct?
ANSWER #3 from FVD.US Representative:
"Correct. We can sell the module to you but it cannot support the turbos.
The 958 Cayenne Turbo has the latest tuning protection on it from Siemens. The only way for us to program that vehicle currently is via the module. The module only has certain parameters that it can manage. Larger turbos cannot be accommodated currently.
Very Sorry but we cannot assist you with a program that includes the larger turbos".
With answer #3 comes a sudden joy and a deep sadness a couple of lines later:
THE JOY - The only way for us to program that vehicle currently is via the module.
THE SADNESS - The module only has certain parameters that it can manage. Larger turbos cannot be accommodated currently
The answer is that for the stock turbos they provide you a software piggy back unit which will yild 40HP + 70TQ and that's about it. I talked to GIAC and they are going to talk to the engineers. Will let you know the answer as soon as i get a hold with them again.
I talked to my best friend and he knows a friend of a friend who did custom tune some 911's, will try to get in touch with him also and see if we can custom tune on a dyno here in my place, will try to keep you posted guys.
What a nightmare!!!

I got it cheap on eBay $197

Another thing, I talked to IPD and they told me to stick with the stock 82mm plenum because it's as good as theirs on that size. Also they do not have stock on the 82mm since porsche is using the 76mm throttle even on the Turbos S. Thanks to them I saved $800 bucks.
If you're getting the 82mm throttle body keep in mind it'll take some time to feel the difference since our ECU's are adaptive. But it's better to get a software tune for real power if that's the case. Anyways the throttle body is not expensive as I said got mine on eBay for $198.
One last thing if anyone is thinking on buying the throttle let me know to post the part number for the stock 82mm plenum.

Oh and in the pictures the plenum is not secured in place, check the screws. That is a tricky part that took me 1+ hour because one screw fell through the engine and I had to loosen 3 screws on the skid plate to put my hand through and get it.
The new 82mm Plenum is longer and stickes further out as you can see.

Totally unrelated because this is a fine thread!
On another note, I about shart myself laughing when I read this Hmmm, plastic plenum just as good as theirs? guess thats not the case on the 955 plenum, you know, the one that gives you 30ish hp.......

That's the answer I got on the phone from the IPD representative, give them a call and tell them you need an 82mm plenum for the 82mm throttle on the turbo s. And yes is their recommendation which saved me $800 bucks since the stock one will hold as good as the aluminum one with higher boost.

Thank you very much ) . I will just have to check the plenum tomorrow becauase some things have changed from 957 engine to panamera TT engine . The plenum from 957 didnt fit because of the maff and some lines and stuff which was totally different
#43
Plenum part number: 955 110 046 60
Throttle part number: 997 605 116 01

Later you can have a custom y- pipe as well because the diameter of y-pipe and intercooler pipe is to small for the requirement of bigger throttle body . I think you will push a little more than 750 hp
#45
Talked to my best friend and we might get a custom Y-Pipe 2.5 inches. I feel bad because Agency Power just focused on the Panamera and not also the Cayenne. Their carbon y-pipe us great. But space is limited. And I see the rubber expanding when WOT at idle
Space picture
