Is there a sub under the spare tire?

If so can it be upgraded? I have an 05 CS with Bose surround...

Yes there is a bose subwoofer there, along with the amplifier.

I took out that terrible sub, put an Alpine amp in its place and got one of these for placement in the driver's side cargo panel...

I had no clue that was available. Please tell me your exact thoughts on this setup. You can't get that as a powered sub can you?

Thanks!

I kept everything else stock, just so its easy to switch back. In a perfect world, I'd switch out ALL the speakers for better mids and highs, but I'm content for the time being.

It definitely sounds really good, and really hits hard with the right style of tunes. I usually listen to a lot of electronic music, so good bass is a necessity. My installer put a bass **** (gain) for the amp underneath the steering wheel for bass adjustment on the fly. This way, when switching from cd to satellite radio back to cd, etc you can easily manage the sub with different styles of music.

Nice... thank you. I've always wanted a JL stealth install but didn't know they had it for the Cayenne. I've been big into the stereo world back in the day.. now as I'm older I'm just looking for something more convenient then a big box in the trunk. By the way, what amp and how much power do you have running to it?

Thanks again man, much appreciated.

Did you have any problem with the BOSE working with the aftermarket amp and sub.

ALso what what total cost with install.

I had this setup on my X5. It really is a nice setup JL audio uses.

They are also very receptive to Group Buys. So if there are enough interest I can make contact with JL and see what they would do. The GB that the X5 board put together was like 10% over cost. It was crazy cheap.

Funny I came across this post as I was about to make some phone calls to see if there was a Stealth Box for the Cayenne. They should update that it will fix 03-2009 models.

Alpine PDX 1.600 - 600W sub amp. Still running the original amp for the fronts and stereo. I'll try to take a pic of the setup if I have time before taking off for the holiday.

As for cost - I think the stealth box ran around $800 plus the amp, but at the same time I had my NavTV Sirius & Tooki bluetooth installed at the same time. I think it ran around $2000 to get all that installed. The tricky part with the GTS is that the whole car is lined with the suede/leather-ish material on the ceiling etc., so your installer has to be very careful. Took a couple visits to get everything to work perfectly...ended up replacing the mic for the Tooki system, but now everything work as if it was stock!

Here's what it looks like installed in the GTS....I guess I have the MRP-M500. Fits perfect under the spare as shown, and sounds great. I have yet to have it to push it to its power limits...no surge protection etc. You can have the panel cover the sub, but I usually have it open just so it sounds better, whether it not it makes a difference, I don't know

Don't worry, I just took the donut spare out of the way in order to take the pic

If fits perfectly over the amp.
