My wife wants a Cayenne as her new DD, but I will drive it a fair amount as well. Purely a grocery getter - no off road stuff. The price difference between the Base and S is about $17k. Both are pretty fully loaded (Premium Plus and other fun stuff) but the Base DOES NOT have PASM or Servotronic. I know I'm giving up a fair amount of power with the V6, but how important are these other things to you guys. FWIW my DD is a C2S so have plenty of fun with that - but I dont want to buy Porsche SUV without getting the "Porsche" if you know what I mean. Thanks a bunch.

 

I have the base v6 with pasm and it is great. That being said, it is in normal most of the time and it still drives great. Nice to have the option but not a deal breaker IMO. But if I could do it again (for me, not the wife) I would go with an S. not that there isn't enough power in the v6 it just isn't as much Porsche as the v8.

 

Thanks Tex - thats about what I thought. Chances of me putting in another setting other than "normal" are slim. I never drive the 911 unless its in Sport mode, but thats another story. The lack of power, particularly when passing another car, is a downfall of the V6 but not the end of the world I guess. Thanks again for your thoughts.
