V6 vs V8 engines

I am about to pull the trigger on the purchase of a cayenne and hoping to find someone who knows more about these 2 engines. I have been leaning totally toward the V8, however, if the V6 is peppy enough it could be an option. Is the V6 known for being a good engine? I don't need to go 170 mph but I do want this car to get up and go when I ask for it. Is the V6 an option?
Thanks to anyone who knows more about both of them.

Thanks, that is pretty much the answer I was looking for. If I am willing to spend the money to purchase and maintain a porsche, it needs to act like one.

I leased a 2013 Cayenne GTS, fell in love with the sweet 4.8 V8. After 2 years, the sales guys were calling, trying to get me to switch out with no money down, better terms, more equipment etc on a 2016 Cayenne GTS.

I drove it. I said no. No way. The 4.8 is where it's at.. If they don't bring it back, I'm gonna be pissed. Right now Beverly Hills Porsche can't give away the 2016's and they look bad ***. Just too light in the nose and not enough power. Also doesn't sound near as intoxicating as the 4.8 with Sport Exhaust..

Although i agree with the sound, the 2016 GTS in a V6 has more torque and is faster than the V8 it replaced. I dont understand how it has less power unless you base this on something else.

Exactly. I based it on something else. Unless you've driven both, it wouldn't make sense to you.

I currently own a 2014 GTS, 4.8 8cy, i did the bypass on the exhaust, i live downtown Ft Lauderdale and drive thru the tunnel below Las Olas and also the multiple tunnels on US1 by the airport. The sound is freaking unreal, the power is more than enough, (also have a 991-GT3) to me i live the sound of a NA engine and no lag. I have not driven the new 16, but maybe its better in other ways. I would consider selling it. PM if seriously interested- 2014- Cayenne GTS, White,Red/Black int, Turbo -2 wheels, all accents on the exterior have been painted gloss black, and also the Turbo-2 Rims, i never have understood the Mocha color from the factory? I almost pulled the trigger on a 991 Turbo, but didn't cause ghe dealer wouldnt paint the rims gloss black as ghey are on the Turbo S, stupid, bought the GT3 instead

Mike, can you be more specific, about the bypass on your exhaust. Who did it and what did you do exactly?

Champion Motorsports did the work, best in the business!! I think the cayenne also has a muffler than can be deleted! Kinda like the 911
