Where in the chicago area is everyone from?

Elgin now, but I grew up on the northside of the city.
Although the northside is a large, vague description, I really have lived all over:
Peterson and California
Sheridan and Morse
Belmont and Cicero
Devon and Milwaukee
Irving and Western
Thats right, I am a Chicago boy for life, but now transplanted in the burbs, and I really do like it!

The suburbs suck??
I have lived both the city (gold coast) and burbs. The best of both worlds happens when you live in the burbs and hang in the city.
THe best part of the burbs is you dont have to deal with LINCOLN PARK ASSES!

But you are right about LP, its annoying. I actually prefer gold coast/streetersville. Oh and burbs are ok ONCE you have the kids. Not before.

SellLow,
.
the city is great especially if you work there.. but:
.
what i like about living in a single family residence in lake forest is..
.
1. quiet unless you have a large, loud offshore boat, launched at the very lovely lake forest beach.. the very minimal traffic is greatly appreciated.. unlike fullerton in the summer. .. i am not a density guy and i know that many of the $$ residents of lakeview leave for the summer..
.
2. open the my laundry room door and step into a garage filled with cars and motorcycles.. i specifically like the hot and cold running water.. and music system for hand car washing.... not to mention, cardinals singing and flowers blooming.. and like minded people living together...
.
3. drive 1 mile (approx. 3 minutes) and be able to nail the car or bike....... the end result is a smile on my face and 100 to 150 mph.. often.. .
.
4. driving my own car and NOT having to take cab..
.
5. parking is plentiful.. and not being concerned about where to park..
.
6. as far as DUI's , not really a concern, plus, i hate to say it but the north shore police don't pull over that many Porsches or MB's..
.
7. crime ..? what crime...
.
don't get me wrong, the city has most of the action.... museums, ballgames, concerts etc.. and i like it.. .. but, under the right conditions, it is only a 35 minute drive/ride.. as you know weekday lunchtime is a very fun time to people watch.. the nightlife is quite entertaining as well...
.
sorry that i sound like a north shore realtor, but living in the burbs means that i can do the things that i like to do, bicycling, boating, cars and motorcycles, etc. with minimal effort and great joy..
.
the cool thing is that most of us have a choice to live where ever we want..
.
have a great day..
