Met this young guy at the construction site of his new house in Burr Ridge,IL. Really cool and down to earth. He is building this crazy big house in my town and has a 12 car garage. Anyone know him or know if hes on these boards??

He owns a mortgage comany. They seem to specialize in financing, refinanacing higher risk cleints. I cant seem to remember his companies name but he's young in age. I have absolutely no experience with his company or how they lend, so my comments are strictly on what I've heard.

 

Just remembered. Freedom Mortgage is his company.

 

yeah he is just around 30, freedom mortgage, ok company, have not heard anything bad about them

good for him. building the largest single-family home in the state. 40K+ sqft of living space, i believe.

 

The 12-car garage I understand completely, but 40k of living space doesn't even sound fun to me. But to each his own.

 

Yes the 12 car garage is needed for his nice cars. He rattled off some stuff he has and it sounded like some of the signatures on 6speed. I thought maybe off a whim he might be on here because hes def. 6speed material. Badass house too!

 

I know... my best friend runs BMAC mortgage here in Chicago... What a Business to be in... Like printing money for the past 5 years.

 

Just hope he can maintain it because we're currently in trying times for smaller firms. When I say smaller firms I mean the non-household broker/bank names. One of the bigger brokerage firms here in the city has been bleeding red on their P&L because of all the discounts they've been passing onto customers. Good for the customer, bad for the firm. They won't be around in a couple of years and currently they're a big name in the region. Go figure?!

I work at just the opposite. Nations largest originator and servicing firm so hopefully I need not worry about closing shop anytime soon.

I know he is making alot of money..but certainly not enough to justify this house long term and the location??? It's one of the largest houses in the state...and he is certainly not one of the wealthiest.

 

To each his own, its your money...do what you want with it, but unless you've got 50 kids I can't imagine what you would do with a 40K sqft house...and I'm a fan of big, nice homes. A 20K sqft house is enormous, I can't see 40. I would have built half the house and spent the rest on a kart track in the back yard or something.

...now a 12 car garage...that's a thing of beauty.

next time i go to burr ridge i'm driving by that castle... I thought my uncles house was big at 10k sqft... guess i was wrong.

 

10k sqft is like the new standard of upper midsize house.
my sister's new house is a bit more than 10k and i find it way too big for my taste. 6800 is where the $ is.
