That dealer refused to let me test drive an Audi A4. I sat with the salesman and discussed exactly what I had wanted (options packages, color and the like), and then I asked to drive the car, to which he said "I don't think you are going to buy a car today, so no test drive for you.")
This was back in 1995, two days later I actually spent more money and bought a loaded Explorer instead.
I actually had Schaumburg Honda pull this on me for an S2000 when they first came out. Not only would they not let me drive it, they would not even quote a price. They said, "make my best and final offer" and they would present it to the owner.
Needless to say, they were a little suprised when I showed up each of the next 3 days, once in My Viper, once in Bentley, and once in Porsche. Childish - sure, but it felt so good.
Not all dealers are like this. I have had great experiences with a local Lambo dealer, a different Porsche dealer, and high volume Viper dealer. PM for a referral.

Oh I know all dealers aren't like this, but I'm just saying, when I have a positive experience, they will get my business. A car is not worth my dignity nor any sacrifice of it, only a chunk of my wallet, a far less valuable possession.
