I like the second one, you just narrowed it down to the whole north shore, western burbs, and downtown

When there are certain "ties," you can pretty much run a business with NO business.

I know someone who they REFUSED to sell a car to.

Price wasn't an issue...they just refused service, which they do have the RIGHT to do, but on no grounds was it necessary or called for.

That dealer refused to let me test drive an Audi A4. I sat with the salesman and discussed exactly what I had wanted (options packages, color and the like), and then I asked to drive the car, to which he said "I don't think you are going to buy a car today, so no test drive for you.")

This was back in 1995, two days later I actually spent more money and bought a loaded Explorer instead.

I actually had Schaumburg Honda pull this on me for an S2000 when they first came out. Not only would they not let me drive it, they would not even quote a price. They said, "make my best and final offer" and they would present it to the owner.

Needless to say, they were a little suprised when I showed up each of the next 3 days, once in My Viper, once in Bentley, and once in Porsche. Childish - sure, but it felt so good.

Not all dealers are like this. I have had great experiences with a local Lambo dealer, a different Porsche dealer, and high volume Viper dealer. PM for a referral.

Oh I know all dealers aren't like this, but I'm just saying, when I have a positive experience, they will get my business. A car is not worth my dignity nor any sacrifice of it, only a chunk of my wallet, a far less valuable possession.
