Yes, every saturday. We meet up anywhere from 4:30PM-7:30PM and then go driving and maybe even do some on-location photo sessions afterwards.

Here are pictures from this week's meet (solo shots of a member's RX-8 as I got to the meet late and missed the group shot opportunities):

This weekend's meet hasn't been finalized yet, but we're likely going to be in North/Northeast Cook County starting at about 4:30PM-5:30PM.

I'll post a link with the meet details and PM you as soon as it's decided.

Thanks

DO NOT DRIVE LIKE AN @SSHAT WHILE YOU LOOK FOR US. NO REVVING. NO STEREO DEMOS. WE HAVE MANAGEMENT PERMISSION TO BOOT ANYONE ACTING UP. BTW, WILMETTE PD KNOWS WE WILL BE THERE AND WILL BE AROUND

Here are the meet rules:

Here are the drive/tour/cruise rules (being developed all the time):

If you don't have one already, bring an FRS (e.g. Motorola Talkabout) radio that can do privacy/security channels. You'll have a much better time during the cruise.

Whatever brand you get, make sure it's got the CTCSS/Privacy/Security codes so you can talk with us.... so far the three interoperable brands appear to be Cobra, Midland, and Motorola. (Their privacy/CTCSS codes match).

Cheaper FRS radios only have channels 1-14. FRS radios with the CTCSS/Privacy/Security sub-channels have channels 1-14 with subchannels 1-38 in each main channel, ala 1^1-1^38 - 14^1-14^38.

You can still listen into conversations on equipment that doesn't support subchannels, but you can't speak/broadcast.

Here are the details for this weekend's meet/tour:

The route actually branches directly off of the Compton ring so there is no extra in route time. Once on the route, we go no more than 5 miles between twisties. There's a variety of fun on just-paved glassy roads including elevation changes, tight, complicated switchbacks and high speed curves (55mph zones!!). This is definitely worth the drive, some of the best driving roads I've ever seen. Some of the roads I would put in my top 5, even over my old trails in California!

This can be a very challenging drive so be sure to read (click the article): The Pace

The plan is to have a forest setting group photo op after a couple rounds of cruising.
There will be plenty of cheap and not so cheap food choices in the area for those of you that eat

Possibly, but you'd probably have to get to the meet on your own unless you happen to live in the neighborhood of one of the other members.

Thanks for your interest!

Actually we have meets every Saturday, however the location does vary. We try not to overuse any one meet spot or touring route so we can reuse them later.

We'll post up this week's info here as soon as it's determined where it will be.

Sorry for the lag guys! Here's the meet info for today 7/7/7

Times:

Streets: 8:00pm - 9:00pm

Cruise: at 9:00pm we'll head out from streets to Compton and immediately cruise the ring (more info on "the ring" later)...

After the ring we'll grab some dinner

8:00PM-9:00PM Streets of Woodfield (Schaumburg)
Map:

(In the map, the oval represents where we should try to meet. (If that area is pretty full, the spaces closer to the frontage road/highway will also work. BTW, for reference the square is $tarbuck$. If the area in front of frontage road is full, please meet on the other side of Dick's sporting goods, closest to the corner of Martingale and Woodfield Rd--the road inbetween Streets and the Main Woodfield Mall.)

Weather: (weather.com | accuweather)

DO NOT DRIVE LIKE AN @SSHAT WHILE YOU LOOK FOR US. NO REVVING. NO BURNOUTS. NO "DRIFTING". NO LOUD STEREOS. NO KIDDING.

Look for this car, and ask for John he's running point on this one...

THE RING is a 12 mile loop with plenty of twists and elevation changes .
