If you don't have one already, bring an FRS (e.g. Motorola Talkabout) radio that can do privacy/security channels. You'll have a much better time during the cruise.

Whatever brand you get, make sure it's got the CTCSS/Privacy/Security codes so you can talk with us.... so far the three interoperable brands appear to be Cobra, Midland, and Motorola. (Their privacy/CTCSS codes match).
Cheaper FRS radios only have channels 1-14. FRS radios with the CTCSS/Privacy/Security sub-channels have channels 1-14 with subchannels 1-38 in each main channel, ala 1^1-1^38 - 14^1-14^38.
You can still listen into conversations on equipment that doesn't support subchannels, but you can't speak/broadcast.

(BTW, not above Home Depot, but not that far away either--sorry to be soo hush hush but in order to allow for future re-use we're very low key about where our locations are)
