Clay Lubricant/ Quick Detailer?
#4
Soap actually breaks down the clay. The best advice would be to use whatever lube the clay manufacturer suggests.

I do not like polishing after claying when i use a QD. It gums up and cakes the pads. So i will wash the car to remove the QD.

Thanks for the input guys, but ended up ordering just the clay =/. I have Meg's Quick detailer and can probably pick up plain jane dish soap. Also, shoul i do another complete soap wash right after claying, or just rinse off the car with some water?

To expand on moes point. It is the type of surfactants and detergents that break down the clay. Car washes do not make great clay lubes. Ivory dish soap, the plain jane one is oft recommended for clay lube. 2-3 drops per 16oz lube. It contains none of the harsh surfactants or detergents. That being said i currently use ONR mixed at QD strength. If i am out of that I use a QD and re wash the car afterwards.
