A tale of Ferraris

The first one up is a 360 Spider. The owner perfers to have his paint polished yearly and was looking for a step above what his dealership provided. He wanted perfection on every surface.

The paint was a little tricky, as it had been bathed in some type of silicone product at the dealership. It took some work to bring it back but the results where top notch, with zero defects visible after polishing.

Process.

Wash with Zaino Z7, foam gun, two bucket method
Tires/Wells cleaned with Poorboy's Citrus APC
Rims cleaned with P21s Wheel Gel
Paint clayed with Zaino Z18 clay bar using ONR lube
General Paint polishing process...
2 x Menzerna SIP with purple wool pad
1 x OP with white pad (an alcohol prep wash showed signifcant filling on
OP's part)
1 x 106ff with white pad (an alcohol prep showed minor filling, but the
surface was ready for final polishing
1 x UF with blue pad (alcohol prep showed no filling and the surface was
flawless)
Werkstatt Acrylic Prime with blue pad
Werkstatt Acrylic Trigger x 2
Pinnacle Souveran
Wells dressed with Meguiars Hyperdressing
Tires dressed with Zaino Z16
Interior recieved Zaino Z9/Z10 treatment

After we applied all the JW and Souveran, we pulled the car out. I snapped this photo while Brian vacuumed and worked on the details.

Next up was a pair of Ferraris from the same owner. The first is a rare 456 GT (rare because of the color combination which is Tour De France blue over saddle and blue interior) and it features a 6 speed, which most 456GT's features a 4 speed auto.
The TDF blue is an amazing color with a lot of reflection and flake, but this one needed some work. I should also note that the this detail has been split into two sessions, last month and this month, but I will combine them.

Process
ONR wash
Clay with Zaino Z18 using Pinnacle Clay Lube
Rims, Tires, and Wells cleaned with Meguiars APC
General Paint Polishing process
2-3 x 3M Extra Cut with a LC White Wool Pad
1-2 x Menzerna SIP on a LC Orange or White Pad
1 x 106ff on a 3M Ultra Fina pad
Rewash with Zaino Z7
Red Moose Machine Glaze with a LC blue pad
Collonite #845 (day one) x 2
Pinnacle Souveran (day two)
Zaino Z16 on tires
Leatherquie treatment
Carpets shampooed with Meg's APC
Rims polished with DeepFinish Deep Chrome and protected by DeepFinish DeepSwax
Windows, lights, trims recieved Zaino AIO topped by Z2pro
50/50

Here is a picture of the hood/passanger fender. The fender side has been finished down and middle of the hood has a lot of wool marring (from us, the car had a lot of water damage that required a heavy cut to relevel).

The two of us working in unison (dual action polishing)

Applying RMG with a PC and a blue pad

After at the end of the next car

Speaking of which was a Ferrari 360 Spider, silver with dark blue interior and top. This car was in good shape but was in need some rehab to get it squared away. Because of the conditions, we couldn't get any before pictures, but managed to get one after in direct sun. Again a very cool 360 because it featured a traditional six speed vs. the F1 trans.

Z7 Foam Wash
Clay with Sonus Grey using CG Speed Shine Lube
Rims, Tires, and Wells cleaned with Poorboys Citrus APC
General Paint Polishing process
1-2 x Menzerna SIP on a LC Orange or White Pad
1 x OP with a 3M Black Finishing Pad
Werkstatt Acrylic Prime by hand
Werkstatt Acrylic Jet Trigger
Poorboys Natty's Red
Zaino Z16 on tires
Leatherquie treatment
Carpets shampooed with Folex
Rims polished with DeepFinish Deep Chrome and protected by DeepFinish DeepSwax
Windows, lights, trims recieved Zaino AIO topped by Z2pro
Engine wiped down with Meguiars SD and topped with 303 Areospace Protectant
We started on an overcast morning (this Sunday) by washing both the 456GT and 360 Spider with Z7.

While Brian applied/removed the Souveran to the 456, I applied Leatherquie Rejuvinator by hand to the 360's hides.

Brian had a little fun with the SIP... Che Bella Macchina or Italian for "The Beautiful Car"...

Dual Action polishing... Here I am handling the correction while Brian finishs down to a flawless finish. Obviously a lot of work was put in with 4 inch pads, making sure all angles where covered...

The rear window had a lot of oxidation which JW Prime removed, but I had to half prop the bonnet to get in there...

The rims featured the same treatment as the 456GT, and IMO, this is the best I have ever seen chrome look...

After completing and wiping of the Natty's Red, we pulled both cars out (slightly tempted to take them around the block ) and took some after photos.. Excuse some of the borders on the pictures, I was playing around with different looks, but I think I will stay with the thin black border from now on.

The JW topped with Red gave the Silver Ferrari a deep reflection that I have never seen on silver before. It was amazing to see!!!

Next up was a long day that covered a Ferrari 612 Scagletti, a Bentley Azure, and a Bentley Flying Spur. Seeing that the theme of this thread is Ferrari's, I will stick to the 612.
Wash with Z7
Clay with Z18
Polish with ZPC on a white pad x 2
Z2pro x 2 (Zfxed)
Z8 final wipe
Z16 on rims
ZAIO on wheels, glass

It was a "quicky" but a full detail is scheduled in a two months, so I will get better pictures of this stunning Ferrari touring car.

Here is a F430 Spider that Brian and I did 3 weeks ago.
Wash with Zaino Z7
Clay with Zaino Z18
Rims cleaned with P21s
Tires/wells cleaned with Poorboys Citrus Degreaser
General Paint Polishing proc.
1 x SIP with LC purple wool
2-3 x SIP with LC Orange Pad
1 x OP with 3M Black Finish Pad
(a lot of work was done with SIP and 106ff on 4 inch orange and blue pads on the PC
as well)
Rewash with Z7
Raggtopp on the top
Zaino Z5pro X 2 (ZFX)
Zaino Z2pro
Zaino CS
Zaino Z08 wipe
Meg's Natural Shine on tires
ZAIO on rims (followed by Z2pro)
It was fun watching Brian cram his 6'5" frame under a lift to polish each section.

Working the PC in tight areas...

We pulled it out to check the polishing in the sun. This is before any LSP has been added, and the car was wiped with Prep-Sol to remove any polishng oils that might hide defects.

Here is a picture from the September thread that shows how bad the paint was...

And here is the finish 2 months later, still going strong and showing zero defects...

And finally here is a 360 Spider that I did the day I left for Canada, November 28th, I believe. This is an older detailer, but the car is maintained weekly. Unfortunatly Brian couldn't make it for this Ferrari, so I had to handle it by myself
The owner was beyond cool and took me for a sideways ride afterwards. Nothing can describe the sounds, sights, feelings, of a 3.6 Liter V8 spinning at 8200 RPM behind your ear and you powerslide out of a corner in a Ferrari spider. Just amazing
The car was pretty hammered, but since I had work on it outside, I couldn't capture the photos I wanted to show how bad the paint was.
Process
Wash with Z7, foamed
Rims cleaned with P21s Wheel Gel
Tires/Wells cleaned with Meg's APC
Clayed with Sonus Grey using ONR lube
General Paint Polishing
1-2 passes with 3M Extra Cut on LC Wool Pad
1-2 passes with SIP on LC purple wool
1-2 passes with SIP/OP mix on a LC orange pad
1 pass with IP/OP mix on lower sections on a LC green pad
1 pass with 3M UltraFina on a LC blue pad
Wipe with prep-sol
Rewash with Z7, foamed
Z5pro x 2 (zfx'd)
Z8 final wipe
ZAIO on rims, glass
Z16 on tires
Raggtopp on top
Leatherquie Treatment to interior
Foamed with Z7
