I will second what Moe said. My wife's Bimmer has chrome wheels with embedded brake dust that no amount of washing or chrome polish would get out. I had given up on it. At Moe's suggestion I clayed them (used einszett detail spray as lube). I was amazed at how easy it came off. Topped off with a coat of Rejex and they look the best they've looked since the car was new.
