help! holograms after waxing!
after i waxed my 2nd coat of concorso today , i parked my car under the sun .
i was so shocked when i saw a whole log of swirls hologram lookalike on my car , tried using distilled water and QD , seems that i am just smudging the things around....
what happened? whats the reason behind it?
thanks

Did you polish the car prior to the waxing? Putting a fancy wax on your car is great, but if you haven't corrected the paint prior to waxing, it's not going to fix your problem, no matter how expensive it is.

If you didn't have the holograms until you applied the wax, it is likely wax that hasn't completely bonded with the surface. If it refuses to bond, which could be due to the cleaner fluid that wasn't completely removed from the surface, it will create its own artificial surface which will appear like holograms.
The same applies to wax that hasn't been 100% removed. If it is still lightly on the surface and hasn't been removed it will also create holograms.

car was paint corrected 3 months ago..i can easily say my car is 90% condition with no swirls and holograms or paint defect...car is seldom driven and washed with caution...
im sure this swirls is caused by the CF or the concorso... but why and whats the reason behind it?
thanks guys for the reply...i have been using poorboy's and zaino all along..this is my first nuba...and its a nightmare!

the wax did not cause any swirlmarks, unless you applied it with steel wool haha. the swirl marks are there for one or both of two reasons 1. the detailer 3 months ago layered the paint with a good filling wax/sealant which hid those swirls from you until now, 2. considering the car was perfected by the detailer 3 months ago, washing and drying done on the car for the last 3 months induced swirls into the paint.
I'm only assuming, but my guess would be that you had a pretty poor detail job, or one that simply couldn't get rid of the swirls... those swirls were then covered up with a high filling wax/sealant, and now when you tried the concorso, which I hear are engineered better than BMWs haha, the cleaning agents in concorso started taking off some of the old sealant, while also trying to bond to the paint and/or old sealant, thus exposing the old swirl marks that were hidden by the old wax/sealant and also causing the holograms (maybe exposing buffing trail marks) in places where the two just couldn't bond whatsoever...

It would help to know your entire process... who detailed the car 3 months ago? what products & tools were used? what was done over the last 3 months, between this wax application and the detail? what steps did you take in applying the wax? (did you clay at all or use a cleaner polish such as zymol hd cleanse, etc.?)

It does make a lot of sense that if a heavy glaze was used previously, it would hide everything until the Cleaner Fluid was applied. The Cleaner Fluid would basically work like prepsol and remove that entire glazing layer so the Concourso could have a really solid bond with the clear.
So chances are that the substances that were on the paint hiding the detailers mistakes have now been removed in your waxing process, and this is what you are left with.
Get your hands on some prepsol, and use that over the entire car. That will strip off your current wax layer, and anything else that is on there. That way you will have a bare clear surface, and then you can inspect what you have. If the holograms are indeed coming from the wax itself, then they will of course be removed and you can start over. If they are the fault of a poor detail, this will also be evident as you will finally have a bare clear surface to inspect.

the car was paint corrected with the menzerna dealer here in singapore...
it was not a filler.... they washed the car with isopropyl alcholhol after that...
it only happens after i apply the way... it seems like the oil is reacting against my paint...
its not exactly swirls...but it looked like swirls....and it feels oily

actually this happens after my 1st coat too... but it was at night and wasnt very clear.... left it for 24 hrs then i washed the car....its gone...
only today after i applied my 2nd coat and i bring my car out in the sun... it was nightmare... i will wash the car after 24 hrs and hope it will improve just like after my first coat...i just want to know whats the reason behind it
could this be because my car was resprayed from water based paint to solvent based paint?
