Smoke detailed - Gloss It Mercedes

I had a loaner car from Mercedes in my garage for the last few days and I noticed how bad the finish was, especially on the hood. So I figured I'd do a full correction using Gloss It products, and write a review. Once again the results were amazing....

Couple sun shots showing lots of swirls and quite a few RIDS.

(I only worked on the hood of this car, no other panels were touched)

After a wash and clay...

Correction and finishing process:

Makita
Evolution cut w. 5.5" CCS orange light cut pad
Evolution cut w. 6.5" CCS green heavy polishing pad
Evolution polish w. 6.5" white CCS polishing pad
Evolution polish w. grey CCS finishing pad to jewel the finish
Gloss enhancer wipedown
2 coats of Gloss Finish w. the Flex and blue CCS final finish pad
Another gloss enhancer wipedown

-Extreme cut(Not used in this job) is Gloss It's most aggressive product. It cuts like a heavy duty compund but works more like a polish. I compard it to Megs M105 and it actually removed more defects in one pass than M105 did, and its not as finicky.
-Evolution cut is similar to SIP in terms of cutting ability- works smooth and leaves a nice finish almost LSP ready
-Evolution polish works well as a follow up when correcting and a great final finishing polish, its super smooth and works a little like Ultrafina
-Gloss finish is the sealant from Gloss It, I applied it with a blue finishing pad and the Flex and well the results were awesome. It suposed to have incredible durability and it beads very very well
-Gloss enhancer is basically a QD spray but acts more like a Zaino Z6 or Z8 product, smells great and doesnt streak at all. I always wipedown the finish with Gloss enhancer before and after applying Gloss Finish

The finish was perfect and finished after 1 hit with Evolution polish but I went back one more time to jewel the paint and ensure no holograms remained with Evolution polish and a black LC finishing pad.

Now for gloss finish

Love this shot..

Some tight beading shots

My favorite

Some pics came out a little dark and blurry in the garage most all of them were taken without a flash.

I have some videos of water beading I will try to upload later.

This car came out really great, I was pleased with the correction and finishing polishes from gloss it once again. After polishing I saw how clear glossy the car was and then gloss finish took it to another level. Depth, clairty and gloss are 3 things I look for in a finish and gloss it made this one all of that and more. These last few pictures with the plants reflection show you how wet and deep the finish looks. Hope you enjoyed

holy cow... so this is all the product that you used? And you got those results...wow..

Makita
Evolution cut w. 5.5" CCS orange light cut pad
Evolution cut w. 6.5" CCS green heavy polishing pad
Evolution polish w. 6.5" white CCS polishing pad
Evolution polish w. grey CCS finishing pad to jewel the finish
Gloss enhancer wipedown
2 coats of Gloss Finish w. the Flex and blue CCS final finish pad
Another gloss enhancer wipedown

so looks like you used what 3 products? I sometimes use 5-7 products and I don't think the outcome is that deep and wet looking.

What speed are you using your makita at with the pads and product? How does the products break down, and how quickly say compared to 3M? How much dust did you notice the products to produce? Did the products gum up your pads after a while?

What was your time frame from when you started till you got to your flex to put on the final product. Trying to compare time frame from my other paint correction products to see if I can save some time..more time I can save more money I can possible make.

I use the Cyclo a lot, do you think this product can work just as good with it?

Thanks for your time...

Gloss It products are used by Cyclo and dual action polisher users, so yes they will work fine. For correction work I normally use a speed of about 1500rpm, I work it like so 600,1200,1500 and back down to 900rpm to refine the finish and minimize holograms. And for Evolution poish I use it at about 1200rpm. Im still working on finding the perfect speeds and pads but the combos I used worked very well. For a 3M comparrison all I use from them is their Ultrafina SE polish and I love it but it takes a while to breakdown and it finishes wet so you cant really polish until clear but it doesnt dust. Gloss It isnt a dusty product either, much less than say Menzerna and it wont gum up your pads because its not a thick gritty product. My pads always wash out clean after gloss it. I wish I kept notice of how long it took but before I began my initial process listed above I expermineted with a few different pads I had to see what I liked so it took me a while. And that last polishing step of Evolution Polish with a grey finising pad wasnt needed I just wanted to see if I could enhance the finish even more with low RPM passes and also make sure the finish was hologram free. One of the things I like about Gloss it is the time saving factor, because the polishes dont take forever to breakdown and buff off so easy its definatley will save time on a detail.

Hope I anwserd all your questions Cyclo.

Awesome post smoke! To answer your question Cycloobsessed. Yes, the Cyclo will achieve awesome results with gloss-it paint correction polishes. At the Gloss-it Corp detail facility the Cyclo polisher is the machine of choice by my detailing technicians also a favorite of mine.

When we launched the company last year at SEMA. This is where we demoed our paint correction polishes on two test panels. One black Mercedes trunk lid and one burgundy Ferrari 599 GTB fender. The demo consisted of color sanding the panels with 1500 grit sand paper. As you know typically you need a high speed to build enough heat to remove the sand scratches. Many attendee's were shocked to witness us removing 100% of the scratches in just step. To prove that there was no hiding or masking we used a mixture of 50% rubbing alcohol 50% water then wipe the panel to remove any residual product. Our goal was to develop a true paint correction and polishing system that would remove paint imperfections in 1 to 3 steps. This took years of testing and developing different product formulations and pad combinations to perfect!

You can visit www.glossitonline.com to view our current polishing guides for the Cyclo and UDM . We are working on polishing guides for the high-speed and Flex and should post soon!

Its is a sun lamp to duplicate natural sun light. Helps show fine scratches, swirls and holograms. Still highly recommend using real sun light to determine true paint correction. Nothing better then natural sun light. We will be carrying the infratech CM 5300 light on the gloss-it.com site soon!

Yes the Infratech is a great light source but like he said nothing compares to natural sunlight. You can correct a car and inspect the finish 10 times with an Infratech or SunGun in your garage and "think" its flawless until you bring it out in the sun and find you may still have holograms or slight imperfections left on the paint.
