Porsche 997TT Correction

I had the opportunity to perform a correction on this 2007 Porsche 997TT for a fellow forum member. Absolutely stunning car in black. It was a challenging detail due to these Porsche's insanely soft paint work; even applying too much pressure on a microfiber can mar the clear coat. The hips and rear on these cars tend to get beat up a bit more than the other areas, so special attention was paid to them.

The owner was very accommodating and was a true car enthusiast, a pleasure to work for him! There were thunderstorms and HEAVY rain the whole time I was there, it finally ended when I finished. It was still rather cloudy, so no sun shots :down

Process is as follows:
ONR Wash
Clay
Wheels/Wells cleaned dressed
Entire vehicle taped off
Optimum Compound/Orange Pad/Flex
Menzerna IP/Orange/White Pad/Flex
Menzerna 106ff/White/Black Pad/Flex
Danase Wet Glaze/Green Pad/Flex
Clear Bra Polished with Plastx/106ff/black pad/Flex
P21s 100% by hand

Quick question, I've been looking for a heavy hitter for my arsenal. Megs M105 has such short working time that it's tough to use and Menzerna Power Gloss dusts wayyy too much. How does your Evolution Cuts compare to those two in terms of cutting power/dusting/working time?

Great question! Well our Evolution polishes all have excellent work time little to no dusting and can be aggressive with different pad choices Have tested M105 and know what you mean about work time. Our Paint correction polishes give you as much work time as you desire. It would help if you could give an example of what time of RIDS or scratches you are looking to remove?

I wouldn't use PlastX on film. You need a very mild polish now and then. The only polish we use on film is zymol HD cleanse. I'm sure a similar paint cleanser that's mild from any manufacturer would work. Stay away from Plexus..just look at the nozzle after a few uses. It has a yellow tint to it and that will have the same effect on your film. Xpel, one of the leading film manufacturers and protection film software companies, only recomends zymol field glaze as the wax to protect the film. They've tested for years and have found field glaze as the only carnauba product to not discolor the film.

I've found that PlastX works fine on the Bra's. It should only be used on a very fine/soft pad though(Black/Green). No discoloration and it seems to clear things up a bit.

For most bra's, we end up using Menzerna 106ff, it's a light polish that will not discolor or haze.

As Moe said, never use Plexus on a bra. One of my regulars took it upon himself to try and "brighten up" his bra with it......it proceeded to turn yellow.

I don't have a specific example, I encounter many vehicles with RIDS and severe swirling, I'm just trying to find something that has the defect removal of a Megs M105/Menz PowerGloss with the working time and lack of dust of an Optimum Hyper Compound.

What's the most aggressive wet sanding scratches they'll remove?

I would recommend the Extreme Cut for removing heavy defects. ( Rids, Scratches, and heavy car wash swirls ). We find that with a fine lambs wool pad or closed cell orange foam pad works well for these paint problems. When you get a chance checkout our gloss-it board. We offer polishing guides to get the most out of the evolution polishes.
