Keeping leather steering wheel long lasting and nice.

I know that the most important thing is safety first. Right? Ever wonder how to keep your leather steering wheel last long, looking new and nice with out worry from slippery leather condition? Most of leather bottle condition labeled not to use on steering wheel because it's slippery. So the question is how can I keep my leather long lasting and nice with slipping during corners? I have a Momo Monte Carlo SW and yea, I do condition it anyway, but Im still not safe. So what can I do?

Leather steering wheel
On most leather conditioners the containers label warns against its use on steering wheels as it will make them slippery and unsafe. The oils cannot permeate the leather and therefore remain on the surface; the same thing will apply to seating surfaces
1. Clean the wheel’s leather surface with a leather cleaner (Leather Master Strong Effect Cleaner) or a degreaser (P21S Total Auto Wash) diluted 5:1 with warm distilled water in a spray bottle; dependent upon type and extent of soil or stain
2. Using a Medium / hard horse hair brush, or a soft sponge, spray and work the cleaner into foam, lightly scrub surface and immediately wipe with a terry towel to remove excess moisture, especially around stitching (you may need to repeat this process)
3. Then use vacuum extractor or compressed air nozzle to dry
4. Once wheel is thoroughly dry apply a leather protection (Leather Master’s Leather Protection)
Leather Master’s Leather Degreaser (check for colour fastness) this aerosol product is ideal for cleaning oily stains; it dissolves and removes oil and grease from leather surface. This cleaner can be applied for cleaning all types of leather.
LM products are available from Detailer's Domain

TOGWT offered good advice. I too would clean with LM leather cleaner (you can dilute LM strong to 3:1 and you get soft cleaner), than protect with LM protectant.

The LM cleaner isn't slippery, so why dilute? I know the conditioner is slippery, why not dilute that?

Diluting has nothing to do with how slippery the products are, in this case. I said to dilute the strong cleaner to make soft cleaner. The dilution will make it weaker. It isn't always necessary to use a product full strength. Leather Master protectant is not a conditioner, it is a protectant. The majority of automotive leather today is coated and leather "conditioners" do not soak into the leather. Instead, the oils in them sit on the leather and do a good job of attracking dust and dirt. As a result, the coating wears down on the leather.

So buy the correct LM products for your type of leather and you'll be good to go. Remember, if its protected leather it doesnt need to be "conditioned."

Complex? It's incredibly simple! Just rub it on, let it sit, and wipe it off!
