Thanks Moe. The Ants are gone - there were hundreds of ants that took the bait both inside and outside of the car! I'm using the California Detailer Brush that I picked up at the local auto store - is this safe to use? Currently I'm using Meguiars Quick detailer, but wanted to try their new Ultimate Quik detailer synthetic.

I had a detailer go over the car back in August, but he didn't want to or know how to remove the minor circular (spider) surfaces marks and so I settled for the clay and polish treatment, but the minor/light hair like scratches can still be seen in the right light conditions and view angle. I'm in San Diego and you are in Orange County (not too far away). I'd like for you to go over the car and do what ever paint correction necessary - how do you suggest we work out the logistics? I'm in North County San Diego. PM me when you get a chance.

Claying will take care of it. You'll have to polish and wax after claying.

I'm not a huge fan of Cal duster because we've seen it cause minor scratches on the paint. We use the natural lambs wool duster if we have to dust a car. Uses static electricity to draw the dirt into the wool. After a while, you simply wash the duster, air dry, and you're back in business.

As for quick detailer, Meguiar's Final Inspection, or something like einszett Spray Wax would be a better choice than utimate detailer.

As for detailing your car, we'd be delighted. You can either come to our studio, or we can come to you. I'm happy to oblige either way.

There are some new nano products that we are testing that might work on satin paint. We'll have to do further testing. For now, wash and use a detail spray like Meguiar's Final Inspection to maintain.

Great question!

Moe, thanks for your time and advice, I wish there was an FAQ section to make it easier to find answers. I didn't see an answer to my problem.

Is there a best product and method for removing old wax/white marks from plastic and rubber? I'm using a plastic cleaner but it doesn't always get it all out.

Thanks.

This products works very well for us:

Simply spray on mf towel and begin rubbing the plastic or rubber.

To prevent the white residue, use a better wax that doesn't leave anything behind.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. Agree with avoiding the problem. This is on a used car I just purchased so I'm trying to correct earlier "poor form".

How to restore scuffed leather seat

Moe,
My 997 C2S Cab has 2 detailing issues I'd like to ask about.
The interior is cocoa full leather. The cab top is dark brown
1. The driver's seat is getting scuffed on the outside edge of the back rest (facing the door, from sliding in and out of the car).
How do I best treat and restore the leather so this doesn't get any worse?

2. The cab top has some scuffs in it, which are showing some 'fuzz'. Any idea how to remove that fuzz?
Thanks.

1. To keep the leather from getting worse, use the leatherique system to restore the leather and hydrate the hide.

Here's a great kit to get you started:

http://www.glisteningperfectionstore...tioning/Detail

I'd first clean the leather to make the leatherique process more effective. Here's a great all-natural leather cleaner that's mild on the leather but effective at cleaning:

http://www.glisteningperfectionstore...natural/Detail

2. Cleaning the cab top is pretty simple. Wash as you normally would. Then dry. A good vacuuming takes care of most of the lint. The final trick would be to use a lint roller, the same one for your clothes, to get the remaining little lint fibers.

You mentioned yours has some fuzz...that may be from some sort of abrasion when the top is folding up and down. We always recommend our clients to keep the top UP when not in use. Many people keep the top DOWN when they're not driving and that tends to create folds in the cab top which can fray and result in the "fuzzy" worn look you speak of. Can you take a picture and post it? It may be something that's a simple fix or something that needs to be replaced. I won't know unless I see it.

That could work

I live in CDM and work in Newport Beach, on Birch Street just off the 73.

I don't want to impose, but if you're ever in either neighborhood, just let me know
