The Porsche cover is an excellent one. The key point to remember is to only cover your car when it's clean. It's all the dirt that you're going to be rubbing everywhere while putting the cover on, and taking off, that's the issue.

So, prior to tucking her away, give a good bath, dry, put on her jammies, and a kiss goodnight

Hey Moe,

What is the difference between CCS red form and gp wax applicator? If I'm using the regular carnauba wax would it be better to use the gp wax applicator and wax the entire car by hand? I'm wondering if I can use the CCS red foam with carnauba wax as I presume itd be easier to wax using the flex machine.

Also how do I clean the silver trim around the windows of 2009+ bmws? My car has silver trim around the windows and they all have watermarks. Can a simple washup + clay take care of those marks? Or do I polish those parts?

Another thing is,. are there certain areas I have to avoid using the flex machine to polish? would the polish substance get stuck in door cracks, door handles, window trims, etc?

I know nothing about detailing but am planning to go for an entire day worth of detailing soon. Your detailing section is great help to people like me, I really appreciate it!

1. Both pads are meant for waxing. The CCS 6.5" pad is meant for a machine while the round hand applicator is meant to be used by hand. When using a paste wax, I recommend applying by hand.

2. The metal trim on any car can properly be cleaned and polished using P21S Finish Restorer

3. When using the flex, or any polisher, tape up plastics, rubber, metal trim, etc. using high quality masking tape. This helps protect the area you're taping off and your pad from picking up debris from those substrates

Curved vs Flat Pads

Moe -
I bought the Flex from you but have not used it yet, but have a question prior to my "initiation". It comes with the curved pads but all the instructional video's I see show it with a flat pad. Whats the difference? The video's all seem to stress keeping the polisher flat with the surface and that may be difficult with a curved pad. It may become apparent once I actually us the polisher but for now - I'm stuck guessing.

Great question Chris. We prefer the curved pad because the edge is not flat. This helps when hugging the curves of a car...say the rear 1/4 panel on a Porsche. This makes full contact with the paint. If you have a flat edge, you may run the risk of rubbing against other panels you're near. You can still hold the polisher flat and make great contact. It's when you go around curves that truly shows how the curved CCS pads excel over traditional flat edge pads.

Thanks for the answer Moe - and while I have you.... when polishing small areas, such as the top section of the window frame, or tight spaces like the rear end of the 911, do you use the Flex or just do this by hand? I assume when waxing applying the product by hand would be OK but was not sure about polishing.

Nano Fusion clear bra care

Hey Moe
Looked at a few posts about clear bras but nothing specific to Nano Fusion.
Since it seems to be the clearest of all clear bras, is there any special ways to keep it clean and protected?

Most posts say to use paint cleaner and then wax (without yellow carnuba). Is this still best? which waxes do you recommend

Also saw special clear bra products but I do not see you selling any. I take that as maybe they are too specialized?

bird dropping removal

Moe,

Is there an easy way to remove bird droppings (1 on hood) on an otherwise clean car besides re-washing the entire car?

As far as I know, there isn't a SPECIFIC product developed EXCLUSIVELY for clear film that guarantees protection. Pretty much anything out there is designed for paint and is compatible with clear film. For us, we simply use a pant cleanser and a Nano wax like Sonax. I know there are some very nice products, namely NanoSkin, that John from Metropolitan Detail raves about. We'll have to get our hands on some and test it.

For now, a paint cleaner and synthetic wax like Sonax Liquid wax is our go to.

Yes. Spray ample amount of detail spray on towel and area affected. Allow product to break down bird dropping, then gently begin wiping with wet portion of towel. Flip to a dry side of the towel, and give a final wipe.

We use the edge of our pad wherever possible. For really tight areas like under the door handle, you'll have to polish by hand using one of our ccs applicators:
