Wax for painted wheels?

(conversation specific to painted wheels)

What wheel wax have you used that SPECIFICALLY claims to help repel brake dust? Has it worked?

I'm not sure if they claim it or not, but I use Klasse Sealant Glaze on a regular basis (every 2-4 washes) on the wheels and it definitely makes washing the wheels and removing brake dust much much easier.

There isn't a product, that I know of, that will reduce the brake dust to a point you cannot see it. If you have a high performance car, part of the performance is braking. There is a magnetic force being made whenever you're driving and braking...so no product can eliminate that attraction.

With that said, products like RejEx, Zymol Wheel Coat, and Swissvax Autobahn help in minimizing the adhesion of brake dust and help when cleaning the wheels. The products mentioned above will make it easier to clean the wheel and in some cases, you simpy rinse the wheels and most of the dust will wash off.

Just make sure to clean the wheel on a routine basis since the brake dust will do permamnent damage if left on the wheels for a long period of time. Bushes like EZ Detail get inside the spokes and a swissvax wheel brush is great for cleaning the face of the wheels, lug nuts, and tires. A wheel cleaner like p21s wheel cleaner is a safe and effective product to clean the wheels.

Hope this helps.

Once it's cleaned, I use Prima Wheel Armour. Track tested and it makes getting the brake dust off easy and quick work. I apply maybe every 3 months. Brake dust generally rinses right off with water and little agitation!

Poorboy's World Wheel Sealant is a great product to apply on your wheels after a thorough cleaning. It won't repel brake dust but it does help minimize it and makes future cleanings significantly easier. Once I have one or two coats applied, you only need soap and water and a dedicated wash mitt to properly maintain your wheels for a couple months.

Keep an eye out on our website for this product to be on sale starting the first of the month for a few days, you can snag it at a great price.

after your wheels are prepped and cleaned up I would use a Swissvax Cleaner fluid followed by Swissvax Autobahn.

Here is a great wheel/tire/wheel well write up.

How to clean your wheel/wheel wells/tires and protecting them.
