Removing Hairline Scratch
Hey Fellas,
My son accidentally scratched my car with his karate stick while getting in the other car. I cleaned it up a bit with P21s Paint polish and P21S 100% Carnauba wax. Used a Porter Cable buffer - the attached pix is what it looks like now. I was going to use Meguiar's ScratchX, but understand ScratchX is a temporary solution according to the threads. If it matters the car is seal grey MY05 997S. Looking forward to hearing from the experts.
Thanks

It should easily polish out. You will need a rotary polisher, and start with wool and Powergloss or similar, then I would go to orange pad with SIP or similar, then finish with finishing pad and Super Finish or similar. BTW all these polishes are made by Menzerna.

That's pretty easy if you have a PC. Use Menzerna SIP with a LC Orange CCS Pad and then finish it up with Menzerna Super Finish with a LC White pad.

So do you recommend the Powergloss and wool? I read that stuff is pretty aggressive.

Unless you have experience using a rotary buffer, stick with your PC. In inexperienced hands, you can easily burn through layers of clear and paint with wool and a rotary, and there is no fix once the damage is done. For modern Porsche finishes, I have only 3 polishes in my arsenal, which fixes about 90% of all the problems I encounter, including what is seen in your photo. Powergloss for deep corrections, SIP, and PO85RD. This combination should take care of nearly all your basic needs. I use a Flex, and only on rare occasions find the cutting of the Flex insufficient.
Can you catch your nail on it? As Moe said, start with SIP, orange pad, followed by PO85RD on a blue or white pad. The photo suggests this should be an easy correction.
