NYNick is infamous around these parts
The bugs are winning...

The nice thing about forums like these are, no matter how obsessive/compulsive I am, there's always somebody else who's WAY more O/C than me. I mean, everyone vacuums the underside of the carpet mats, right?
Anyway, I've got the 3M type invisible bra, and after a long trip, tried getting the bugs off my car. I used bug and tar stuff, a high pressure touchless car wash, 'scrubbing'(not really) with a soft sponge, another personal hand washing etc. What I'm left with, for lack of a better term, are 'ghosts' or shadows of where the bugs used to be. Same thing happened with bird poop. There is no remainder, nothing to the touch, just see through shadows on the 3M that I can't seem to remove? And alot of them. Of course, it takes certain light conditions to see them, but they're clearly there.

Ideas?

Thanks

Nick

Nick, did you put anything on your bra? I used rejex on mine, good stuff. Buggies come right off.

Definitely try to keep a good wax or sealant on your clear mask at all times. You should be able to machine polish most etching from the bugs. If you're not confident with a rotary buffer, talk to your installer, or your local detailer, they should be able to help.

I have the same problem Nick! Could I use the swissvax cleaner fluid on the bra? It's a ventureshield. I will apply the wax next. Thanks!

Sure you can, but it won't fix the bug etching. Gotta pull out a polisher for that.

Thanks, John! No polisher at my house, yet.... I'll let you know how it looks after I try the cleaner, then I might take the polisher plunge!

Jen, we use to use cleaner fluid on clear film and we've stopped. There lots of oils in the CF and it always seems to linger behind. I'd recommend using a Menzerna polish, something like Final Finish, PO85RD, or Power Finish, PO203. If using power finish, you should be using it with a polisher...either a PC7424XP or the Flex with an orange pad should do the trick. Then wax the film with something like Rejex or Menzerna Power Lock.

I hate to admit this, but I am scared to use it. I am not a newbie to power tools, but don't want to hurt the car!

You have nothing to worry about Jen...we're editing a 3-minute video that should be up this week. It shows how easy it is to work with the flex. And of course, as always, I'm a phone call away
