Personally I really like Black fire wet diamond. Easy on off and lasts a long time. looks good too.

+1 That is a really really great looking wax.

I also use Optimum Opti Seal on most cars I detail because it looks great and applies very easily.

Is there a way to polish swirls without a machine?

It all depends on how deep they are. The lighter swirls can be reduced or hidden by using a oaibt cleanser. But to truly get rid of swirls, you'll need to machine polish.

Going to take a LOONG time by hand. Not only will it depend on depth of the imperfections, but the paint's hardness. Dont drive yourself crazy w/ small amounts of swirls/spiderwebbing imo. If its not bad, do a simple paint cleaner and wax. That is more than enough to make it look great. If it is bad, and you're not comfortable using a machine to diy, than have a known detailer take care of the defects, then just maintain it yourself w/a good wash routine.

[I believe synthetics reflect back 80% of the light and carnaubas reflect 100%. That's why you have the depth and definition.]
