Is Porsche paint hard?

Wife had some sprinkler caused water spots on her Porsche Cayenne (GTS Red - kind of burgundy), were on there about 4 days before she got back home and I could attack it. Washed the vehicle, but the sports on the hood were still there. Tried vinegar solution. Made no difference.

Broke out the PC XP and started off with some polish & polishing pad. No luck. Went with a intermediate compound and pad, still no luck removing the waterspots. Finally went with a cutting pad and a more aggressive cutting compound. Really had to lean into it and they started to come out. Very hard, and tiring. The PC XP was at 5 for most of this. Still not completely out, but much better. The pads are Meguires. It just seemed that the paint is extremely hard. Much harder than anything I have detailed before.

Is there any tricks for Porsches?

Thanks!

Some paint are hard and some are soft even on the same make, model and colour. It's dependent upon paint specification and lots of other variables.

Porsche paint s a medium IMHO. It's the most predictable and enjoyable paint to work on for me.

What polishes were you using? he PC has its limitation since the more you push on it, the more you're bogging down that 4.8 amp motor.

The most stubborn water spotting, not including etching in the clear coat, is usually no match for Menzerna SIP, GP Orange CCS Pad, and the Flex.

Moe is right on the money. I find Porsche paint to be on the softer side and very easy to correct. The water spots are most likely etched. If you have tried the least aggessive method first (always recommended) then it is time to step up. Menzerna is my go to polish for any Porsche. You didn't mention what compound/polish you were using but if you cant find Menz locally you can look into Megs 105/205. 105 might be a bit much but 205 on an orange pad with the Flex is killer.
