Detailing Black Polyurethane FVD Lip for Installation

I have a white 2008 C2S. After getting tired of valets scraping the stock front lip, I've purchased an FVD polyurethane front lip to apply--to essentially take the abuse.

Here's the item online: http://www.fvd.de/us/en/Porsche-0/99...yurethane.html

I'd like to keep it unfinished black as I have the black stone guards and plan on black exhaust tips and matte black for the rear valence--so the look fits.

However, after receiving it, the raw finish of the polyurethane's not quite to spec, with small finishing marks and a general "schmear" from manufacturing...what can I do to clean up/polish or generally wipe down the black polyurethane so that it looks a little more decent--and keep it up? Was thinking wiping it down with acetone, MEK or the like, to get it consistent, then something to clean it up. Ultimately want it a consistent matte finish. Thoughts?

Also, the C2S already has the clear bra on the front. Assuming I can apply with provided double sided tape directly to the clear bra and have a tight fit with no fear of the bra coming loose under pressure and the lip coming off in a disaster of some sort?

Thanks, folks!

Why not just prime and spray paint it in a matching flat black? Then if it does get marked up along the way, you can pull it down and quickly respray and no one is the wiser.

As for installation, not sure how it's supposed to be installed but 3M double sided automotive tape (the grey stuff - can't remember the p/n) should be fine. If you need to pull it down, you just have to use extra caution and go very slowly where ever it's in contact w/ the clear bra.

Yeah, that appears the way I'll have to go. Used Acetone on the unfinished polyurethane, and although looking better, not nearly nice enough to match the rest of the car.

SO...which type/brand/finish of black paint is going to most closely match the pebbled rock guards...and look the same as OEM black trim paint like on the sills for the C4S and (I think turbos)?

I'm thinking semigloss or satin rather than flat, and need to be sure it's somethingt that'll stick to polyurethane.

Thoughts? I'd think someone has had to touch up their sills or similar.

Thanks! Almost there!

Get something made for black plastic. I would recommend Black Wow. Don't get it on any painted surface. The Black Wow is a good restorative treatment - to bring the piece up to a uniform color, etc.

In between applications of a product like Black Wow, you can use plain old 303 Aerospace Protectant to clean and finish that lip.
