What should I do with a new 997TT?

My 997TT is probably arriving in late August. I have told the dealer not to prep the car since I want to do it myself.

I was thinking about this process. Please critique...especially those folks with more experience than I...

1. Wash with P21S auto shampoo
2. Clay car
3. Einszett Metallic polish (not the polish/wax) with green pad OR Menzerna Final Polish II with green pad?
4. Menzerna Finishing touch Glaze with a red pad
5. Menzerna FMJ OR Einzett Glanz wax (original)?
6. Top coat of P21S Carnauba wax? Worth it?

Or, since the paint is brand new, should I skip the polish stage and go right to waxing?

Is there any benefit to putting carnauba wax over a synthetic like FMJ or Glanz?

Thanks for any help!

Keep it simple. Clay it with a mild clay from Sonus, the green extra fine. Use the einszett metallic polish and use glans after. You don't need the menzerna for right now. You can even forgo the porter cable. Do both the polish and wax with a cotton terry pad. You can put the carnauba over the glans, but I'd skip it. The paint will look great after the glans. Hope this helps.

Thanks! So, you favor the Einszett Glanz over Menzerna FMJ in terms of synthetics? BTW, I have the original version of Glanz purchased 2 years ago. Any reason to upgrade to the new formulation?

And, thanks for the PM. I responded...

No, forget the FMJ. Use your einszett metallic polish and the glans wax. I know einszett has stated their products are stable for seven years, I'd say invest in a new can of glans.

alin2,

I agree with Moe, do the einszett and keep it simple as long as the dealer doesn't totally mess up the prep you should be okay.

Thanks for the advise.

Is there really a significant difference between the old and new Einszett Glanz wax?

not really except for the fact that Glanz now has carnauba so it will have a nice deep shine to it.

As for shelf life drop Einszett a call and see what he thinks before you buy another bottle of it. Ask for Mike.

Just had my 997TT detailed yesterday (Moe did a great job). Car has 2000+ miles now, delivered in early April. All I did until yesterday was wash it.

The following was done:
Wash (Zymol Clear)
Clay (Zymol Lehm Klay, Lehm Lube)
Polish (HD-Cleanse Polish)
Wax (Zymol Destiny)
Tires, wheels, rubber, black trim, tailpipes, leather, etc. all detailed.

One thing that I found interesting: There was still glue (invisible) on the doors from the shipping paper. Moe was happy about that, he figured we were better off that the dealer did not detail the car before delivering it. All I could think was what would have happened if I had waited any longer?

Cars looks fantastic and I received quite an education yesterday. Tossed out a lot of detailing products I had laying around!

Thanks for the compliments Dan. It was a real pleasure working on your Turbo and hanging out with you. It's always interesting to see the amount of products everyone has in their garage that they're not happy with or want something better to use. What's funny is that everyone seems to have the old "rubbing compound" in the arsenal of products. It cracks me up
