Chinese BYD plans Cayenne clone...
Chinese based, BYD Auto is planning on creating their own Porsche Cayenne look-a-like. As the photo implies, they have no shame in making this knockoff as the photo depicts an actual Cayenne with BYD's grille photoshopped in place of the original. We're not sure whether these images are sourced from a company brief or just a Chinese car magazine. Either way, it's pretty appalling.
This is certainly not the first time a Chinese automaker has cloned an already popular vehicle. In fact, BYD has already created a vehicle known as the S6 SUV which has a striking resemblance to a Lexus RX as well as their Toyota Aygo styled, F0 mini car. In addition to BYD, Geely (another Chinese automaker) revealed their Geely GE at this year's Shanghai Motor Show. The Geely GE looked so much like a Rolls Royce Phantom that Rolls Royce is considering legal action.
As you can imagine, the BYD T6's powerplant will not even come close to competing with Porsche. Sources predict the T6 to sport a 2.0 liter engine, most likely a 4 cylinder. Look for the BYD T6 to debut by September 2010, that is unless Porsche's legal team gets to them first.

that's how it is in China, it's all about showing off, the automaker is taking advantage of of this market for those who can't afford rolls royce but yet want to show off to the public with somewhat similar vehicles for fraction of the cost since the general population in China won't able to tell the differences anyway.
