Ferrari See-Through Paint??
Hey guys, sorry if this has been asked before. When i tried searching for this i got a ton of posts on regular paint and windows and such. So please just help if you have any info on this topic.
I'm usually on the rx8 forum (my car) and i read a post about how there was a Ferrari that has a full CF body that the Ferrari production only put 1 layer of paint over to save weight, in turn; it created a sensational look. Meaning you could just see a hint of the CF through the paint. Does anyone have a picture of this? or know what model of Ferrari this came on. I would love to buy a CF hood for my car but i hate the look of dark grey/black cf on a red car. If i were to buy a CF hood i think it would be unique to get 1 layer of paint on the hood like they did with this Ferrari. It should look great if i had every done it.
Any info would be awesome, thanks guys.

It's not really see through. The effect you are referring to is a print through on the F40 and F50, where you can see the carbonfiber or kevlar weave in the paint. I think most of the aftermarket parts, like an engine hood, will have more than enough clear/resin to create a smooth surface which would prevent any weave pattern to show through.

ahh, so does ferrari paint directly right on the CF without a clear on it? hmm thats interesting. well since they don't do what i thought they did. Do you guys think i can somehow get an effect to match my current paint like this. like a candy apple coating?

Yes, they spray the CF directly. Where the CF is most visible through the paint is on the sides of the rear wings on both the F40 and F50. I found a bunch of pictures of both where you can see the CF on FerrariLife.
