If I had the money to own a Ferrari and my son proved he was responsible, I would let him take the car. Accidents do happen. No one here is innocent of spirited driving.

Ditto but you wouldn't appreciate them as much as drooling over them for a while and buying them through your own hard work

I'm surprised it wasen't totaled, that looked like some pretty extensive damage.

I think its not that people are jealous, its that people don't want to see needless destruction of cherish things. Accidents do happen, no one disputes that, but how did this kid loose control? Was he pushing the car and got into a situation he did not know how to handle? Its not like he is older and has years of experience to fall back on. If this was my kid, instead of handing him two new cars I honestly would get something that would be a good 'learner car' and send him to a true driving school.

This is very true. When I was in high school, I knew this kid who wrecked 5 new cars...every time he did his parents would just go buy him a new one. I don't know if it was that he got 'bored' with that particular car and wanted something else or was doing stupid things, to be honest I kept my distance from them for a good reason. At what point do you just say no to your kids?

Haha, reminds me of my little sister. She got a well equiped manual Beetle turbo for her first car that was flashed by REVO. Too much power for a 16 year old girl. She totaled it about 3 months later. Then she got an almost new manual Neon with some basic mods. Totaled about 6 months later. Then she got a POS Jetta because my Mother was fed up. Turned out to be the car that survived in her hands the longest slowly getting beat up as time went by. Now you cant get into the car without going through a window and it wont start because to many parts are broken on it. She drives a manual 91 Honda Civic hatchback base model now that cost 600 dollars off craigslist with all service records and shes 19. Hopefully she learned her lesson. Only time will tell.

When I have children I am keeping my keys to my Ferraris locked away in a safe next to a gun!
