In regards to maintenance, based on my experience its is negligible - many pre 2000 cars (engine out services) are expensive to maintain and from what I've been hearing and seeing post 2000 cars are having issues once they get some miles on them.

My 550 which is supposed to be "reliable" has not been that much less to maintain than the 355.

The two majors on the 355 have run $6.5-7K, my first major for my 550 which was completed last week was $6.5K ($8.7K total - few extras taken care of while it was on the rack) and the engine was not required to be pulled during the service.

My 355 has 55K miles and my 550 28K miles - Guess which ones gets used more.

 

I disagree, I think the F355 looks like a true classic next to the 360/F430, which took a different direction (all-aluminum, laser seam welding, etc.)... F355 was the last of the classic V8's, before Schumacher was a household name, before the V8's were as blatant a way to fill volume to pay for the V12 cars and the Formula program. I love the car and have driven several. For India, my choice would be a T.Grigio GTS, but that's just me. You should look at used cars from Hong Kong (some will be LHD, some RHD) and the middle east, many choices. Containerized shipping across the Indian Ocean is not that pricey.

 

well ironicly enough i was looking at this thread last night and this afternoon i saw a 355 but it was a 355 challenge and it was on a flat bed in my neighborhood. i drove back to check it out after i pasted it and it looked pretty beat up im guessing from alot of tracking... but never the less a nice car!

 

Are you in NorCal or SoCal? Did you strike a conversation with the owner?

 

im up in Norcal and unfortunately wasn't be able to since the owner or anyone for that matter wasn't out by the car.

Yup, San Jose actually. I know of several F355Ch's in the area, but hadn't come across one with your description.
