Will someone please post Bill Gates car collections to make MSFT President look poor.

All joking aside, I saw pic of Bill Gates garage (can't find the pic anymore). Gates garage looks more hi-tech (of course) garage floor is made of laquer black bamboo, huge flat screen tv for every bay. And I recall seeing nothing but Ferraris - 3 Red Enzo's is what stuck on my mind. Of course, this is not shocking for man of his wealth.

Shirley's cars are 15-20 times more valuable then anything Gates has. Shirley is a true collector that room alone is 80 million plus in cars. Not all of his cars are even there. Bill for a while drove a Ford Explorer. He's just not about cars. He's about software and giving money away. 3 Enzo's (I don't believe he has) wouldn't be worth the one Yellow 275 GT California parked there.

Gates would have a tough time even finding cars of Shirley's caliber now. Most of the very wealthy don't just dump the 5 plus million dollar cars they just love them.

I have to agree with you that Gates is more about giving money away and software vs. having the most expensive car collection in the world - at this time. In that case, the pic I saw may have been Shirley's cars, and the garage I saw (absolutely jaw breaking) may have been at his other home - I'm sure he has more than 5 homes in the US.

Gates is still the man, so correct me if I'm wrong. In the late 90s Gates did buy a $150mm yacht, $30mm painting, and the first person to own a 959 Porsche in US, right?

So I'm not sure who's garage you saw and can't speak for Bill's cars. I do know he and Paul Allen got two of the first F40's and F50's originally. I'm sure the 959 story could be true. Why not buy cool cars when your loaded.

As far as the yacht I'm sure he did. Paul Allen his partner at the time is more well known for yacht's I believe he has 3 of the largest in the world. That 150m figure isn't much though. At the time he was hovering near 45 billion net worth. Spending 150 million out of that is like someone with $50k in the bank spending $165 bucks. Hmmm. Makes that Yacht seem cheap now doesn't it. I don't follow big boats so can't confirm anything really. I'm just talking now.

Please don't compare these rich guys to Gates. Gates is more than just about making money and buying lots of toys. He's the most generous philanthropist in the world. He changes the world with his visions and generosity. He's truly the man of the century and will be in our history forever. While the other guys will be easily forgotten 100 years from now.

Gates doesn't own 3 Enzos, the only cars I know he's got are:
996 911 Cab
Lexus LS400 (Sold I believe)
Z8
Current gen MB S Class
959 (Rumor has it he and Paul Allen imported 5 of them, crash tested 3 to comply with NHTA crash test regulations and registered the 2 remaining)

Bill does love cars but he has more selfish priorities.

I totally understand just because he was the richest man in the world (for many years) doesn't necessarily mean he has all the best toys. Having said that the car collection I saw on the net are probably Shirley's.

I actually saw Paul Allen's yacht in Greece - well at least that's what the locals told us. Although I didn't see a yacht, it was more like a Carnival cruise ship.

And no doubt, Bill Gates will be in our history forever.
