Holy **** that's quick!! I'd be pissing in my pants.

R&D.

Ferrari has its signature sound. Harley Davidson also has theirs. The two are unmatched.

I think the 430 sounds the 2nd best to the 360, but then again its all subjective. And Ferrari spends alot of money tuning the exhaust note to their liking regardless of configuration.

"got it now, why do companies such as Audi not use a flat crank for high revving NA engines like that the 4.2 in the RS4 and R8? Since they basically made that engine from scratch you think they would?"
Audi does do it and the Gallardo and RS-6 and I imagine the V-10 R8 will have it, which include direct injection and a 90 degree flat plane crankshaft, come courtesy of Lamborghini’s parent, Audi AG. Similar technology was employed on the V-10 engine in the Audi RS6 sports sedan.

The flat plane crank has a bit to do with it but so also does valve timing, valve count (5 valves per cylinder) air intake, intake venturies, intake air flow, etc.

Bear in mind that Ferrari has been refining that sound for years.

There is a reason why Ferrari has a special sound, and those of us who live with know why.

With the advancements in technology, they can make cars even as cheap as the 350Z sound very good. And it is a relatively straight forward engine design with nothing exotic. Has any ever heard a Vanquish or DB9 with exhaust or even stock? They actually sound as good as the V-12 Ferrari's, in fact I think even more organic and alive sounding. And you guys won't guess what the roots of that engine came from
