Ferrari 575M maranello

550 & 575
I've had one of each and both were trouble free but admittedly I don't keep cars long! These cars are a real value, and some believe it will be the next Daytona in terms of collectibility. Classic V-12, front engine, beautiful car. The car still had dreaded timing belts, but they the engine placement and figuration make it a relatively easy job unlike a number of later Ferrari models - some being engine out services to do belts. Both of mine were 6-speeds.

My uncle has one and he'd always take me for rides in it a few years back. The car is a torque monster, but at one time I remember him telling me he had two timing belt jobs in one year on the car. He did the work on the car himself.

I saw a 550 at Ferrari independent shop yesterday while getting high flow cats installed for my 360.
I asked the shop owner about the reliability of 550/575. He said these modern are quite reliable if well maintained and they are a blast to drive. Just a bit heavy.

I've owned 9 Ferraris with no reliabilty problems. It's all about purchasing the right car and maintaining properly.

I had a 550 Maranello and it wasn't too bad of a maintenance problem. The 575M is a longer wheel base car not sure of the reliability. Expect to spend $2,500 - 5,000 a year no matter what Ferrari you buy

575 is an updated version of the 550.
i own a 575. it has been trouble free.
imho, 550's are more troublesome. motor mounts, plenum houses, shock actuators as well as various sensors seem to be trouble spots. the dash leather seems to have more shrinkage problems. the center console is prone to wear.
look for a loved car that has been serviced with records. any Fcar without is a much harder sell and should be priced accordingly.
