F458 Vs. McLaren MP4
I finally saw a F458 in person. I could "live" with the exterior styling but the interior wasn't that great either. I was talking to friend of mine he has been thinking of getting a MP4. So my question is if you had to spend $250-275K on a car. Which one would you pick.
Btw, here is a link to the MP4 configurator for those interested.

That MP4 configurator was very kool
It's a tough decision. I would want to drive both cars and then make a better decision, but I really do like the mp4 and most likely would lean towards that.

I would pick the 458 based on the reviews and the fact that it is an awesome (known) performer! The MP4 is an unknown entity at this time. No information exists on trade-in/ resale value or sales and service support... Now when they come out with the replacement for the F1...

458, looks better inside and out I think. It's drop dead gorgeous if you ask me.

I agree. It seems that the MP4 is trying to bring Carrera GT level performance for $250K - 275K. Plus Mclaren is kind like Ferrari of old. There primary purpose is racing. They sell cars as an aside. They have the history of Senna, the F1, F1 racing and this!

The MP4 acceleration will be slower by a fair margin: Advantage Ferrai
Styling (opinion): Advantage Ferrari
McClaren vs Ferrari as a brand: Advantage Ferrari
Handling: too soon to tell but if I had to sues Advantage Ferrari
Interior (easiest catergory to choose IMO) Advantage Ferrari
Prestiege Advantage Ferrari
Exclusivity: Advantage MP4 (as a educated guess)
As you can see the choice is simple in my opinion. It seems the MP4 is over priced and should be more in the 150-175 range to compete with an R8 V10.

McLaren is one of the richest car companies in the world. They simply focused on their Formula 1 racing instead of building road cars since the F1 was introduced in the early 90s. Their facility in Woking, Surrey, UK is an impressive and secretive facility.

just some quick info on the mclaren mp4
firstly, i will be getting one 2nd hand in 2 years. someone i know is getting an allocation in the US for one, and is also going to get the next mclaren supercar, and will sell me his mp4.
anywho
the mp4 is insanely cheap for the technology in the car. in absolutely no way, shape, and or form is it on the same level as a modern day ferrari f458. from the technology of the car, as far as the carbon tub, and the twin turbo flat crank v8, to the seamless dual clutch transmission, the mp4 will have every single car under $500k beat, by a long shot.
also, mclaren is a HUGE company, with an unbelievable technology business that is making tons of money for them... they are a very long ways from being broke.
with that being said, the ferrari 458 is (in my opinion) the best car ferrari has EVER made, with the exception of the f40
