Automobile Magazine Tests the F458 Italia

That 134 trap speed seems very high.Autocar only got 128.6mph.In a side by side race with porsche turbo S,the turbo S went 129.3 at quarter mile.At the kilometer, turbo S wa 163.2 in 20.05 secs and 458 was 163.9 in 20.33 secs.Could the 134 trap speed be wrong,in some way?Either measurement error or non-standard car?A variation of quarter mile trap speeds of almost 6 mph is way too much to be accounted for by driver differences or weather differences. That's a 50bhp difference or more...What is the explanation for these different figures-it is puzzling, isn't it!
On dragstrip, trap speed is the average speed of last 60ft while magazine quoted driver can be average of last 60ft or the passing speed@400M mark
I guess Autocar/EVO is posting dragstrip style speed while automobile is posting passing speed@400M mark

Which is why I brought it up in the first place. So far, EVO & Autocar have virtually identical results but just C&D had these lowball numbers so until another known authority reproduces C&D's results, I wouldn't put much stock in those numbers. In other words, don't be taking some huge bets you can outrun someone in a drag race because, as they say: "Your results may vary".

Altitude, temperature, prep, launch, etc...
There is so much to a drag race that can cause a tenth here and a tenth there. I'd say that the 134mph is with all of the stars aligned, and 128 is what everyone with a good launch (with prep) should expect.

Something does not add up, trap speed is for the most part independent of a lot of the factors ET is affected by. By the fact that this car ran quicker ET wise its trap should be similar or slightly lower than cars ran with a worse ET. 6 mph trap speed requires more power, especially on a launch control dual clutch gearbox car which always puts down the power incredibly well.
