Ferrari Superamerica 45

By Dan Strong19th May 2011
Could this be the World's most exclusive Ferrari?

This one-off prototype is set to make its public debut at the ultra-fashionable Villa D'Este Concorso d’Eleganza in Italy on 20th May 2011.

Called the Superamerica 45, the V12 engined coupé convertible is based on the beautiful 599. As well as subtle changes to the design it gets a one peice revolving roof made of carbon fibre.

The boot has been carefully shaped to hide the arrangement when it is open, and is also made of lightweight carbon.

The rear buttresses are body-coloured, and flow seamlessly into the rear wheelarches.

The side view is further distinguished by the new air vents on the front wing.

Finally, the Ferrari Superamerica 45 also features a chromed front grille and burnished aluminium A-pillars, wing mirrors and door handles.

Finished in colour called Blu Antille, the wheels are body-coloured with a contrasting diamond finish to the spokes.

The roof and other carbon-fibre elements of the bodywork – front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser – are in a special contrasting darker blue, a theme that is carried over to the ****pit which features dark blue carbon-fibre dash trim and driver zone.

The interior meanwhile is trimmed with a combination of Cuoio leather trim and Blu Scuro carbon fibre. It also gets the latest-generation touch-screen infotainment system.

Comissioned by New York-based Ferrari collector Peter Kalikow, the car was styled by Ferrari Design and engineered and built in-house.

Ordered in 2010 by Mr Kalikow the creation is designed to celebrate 45 years since he first became a Ferrari customer, hence the number 45 in its title.

The Superamerica 45 becomes the the latest appear at the Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza.

Hosted on the shores of Lake Como, Italy, it's not the first time, Ferrari has chosen to use the Villa D'Este show to advertise its ability to build bespoke cars. The event was previously used to launch the Ferrari P4/5, created for financier James Glickenhaus.

Saw this one the other day and I really like it. I think the item that I like the most is actually the color on the car itself.
