458 VS Aventador what to buy????

By all accounts of what I've read, the 458 is makes for a far better DD but the Lambo is more outrageous.
I wrote an article from my interview with Tony Gaples, veteran of the World Challenge race series who has owned both. He far preferred the 458. The 12C had quirks, design issues, drivability, and no LSD. Huge disappointment for him.
Actually with top race car driver(s), the Aventador was quicker at MRLS than the 458. That is the 3rd? fastest track in North America.

No they are not very similar performance wise. The MP4 is faster on track and ALOT faster in a straightline.

3, maybe 4mph higher trap speed than a 458. However, lacking an LSD can mean uneven traction/surfaces may not make it as consistent. Probably a more luxurious ride in comfort mode though. 2 seconds quicker around MRLS too. It is impressive in terms of speed.

I concur that the Mac is a tremendous track star IF you have the skillset to take advantage. That being said I'd think that few, if any of us, actually could max out an MP4 or 458 on a track. Therefore, the track #'s are meaningless for 99.99% of us. As far as straight line performance I'm not sure where you are getting your statistics from but I'd respectfully disagree. Road and Track tested 2012 versions in October 2012 and they had very similar performance (both cars did 0-60 3 seconds, 0-100 6.4 and qtr. mile at 10.9 with MP4 having a 131.7 trap and the 458 having a 132.5 trap). Granted that was the MP4 which has since been tweaked with a few more horses, but ALOT faster ? Just an erroneous statement. In my world - the street - the better driver wins each and every time regardless of HP, g forces and track times. From my humble experience people with my 458 or a Mac or a Lambo rarely care about just 0-60 or track times.

Im on my phone right now. But go check out m5board channel on youtube. The mp4 with factoryupgrade races alot of different 458s. It is in a qhole different league when it comes to straight line performance. I can post the vids here later.

If you guys are making a decision on whether to buy a car based on speed tests or videos your doing yourself a disservice. Speed tests performed by reputable magazines like R&T don't lie. All of the tests are performed under the same conditions. A video on the M5 Board (or whatever) is useless in the extremis as you will never candidly know whether the cars are modded and what the respective driver skills are. These videos are about as useful in ascertaining real performance figures as an icepop is to an eskimo. You need to drive these cars via real life seat time to appreciate them. If you just want the fastest car in a straight line why not get a GTR ? If you don't care about a NA vs. turbo charged engine why not get a GTR ? A GTR, while IMHO not an attractive looking car, is arguably the best bang for the buck in the world. Spend $110K on a new GTR and spend another $100K with AMS or Switzer and then you will have an 8 second car. Isn't that what this is all about to you guys ? We all know that those 1500 HP 8 second cars are useless as true reliable daily drivers. Anyway, my suggestion is to drive the Aventador, 458 and yes the MP4 and see which one you are excited to drive. If you are looking for a car that makes you excited to drive it each and every day you really shouldn't be concerned with #'s and videos. None of us - and I mean NONE OF US - can possibly use 100% of the Lambo, F car and Mac performance envelopes. If you want to know which car has the easiest performance envelope to access on a daily basis and which car is the easiest to master (or attempt to master) I say the 458. Do yourself a favor and drive these cars a bit before plopping down $300K-$500K on your next steed. My 2 cents from the peanut gallery.

The only non-daily driver (which still is street legal), would be a 7sec GT-R, and that's only because I, personally, would not take the A/C out (as AMS did).

While I have been in a few GTR's, including a 800+ HP modded 08, I'll readily admit that I've never been in a 1500 HP GTR. That being said I refuse to believe that anybody drives a 1500 HP car as a true daily driver where I live in the northeastern US (ie. 10K-15K plus miles per year including rain, snow, etc.). I also don't believe that anybody drives a 1500 HP GTR in rush hour type traffic which can be brutal and last for hours (at least here in NY/LI). If you live in a true warm weather climate all year long with minimal inclement weather (ie. minimal rain and no snow) and wide open roads (ie. no traffic) then your world is very different then mine and I stand corrected. As an aside, I will publicly state that I do love the GTR and have nothing but respect for its extreme performance envelope. If only it looked and sounded like my 458
