Ferrari accident - Can you salvage?

Hey guys, we delivered a beautiful 360 to a customer after installing a Tubi exhaust, upgraded the radio to an Alpine unit with XM and put in GPS tracking. He took the car on Friday and Monday morning I had an email that he pulled out of a driveway, accelerated and shifted into second gear at the same time as he passed over a bunch of wet leaves. The car quickly switched ends and the driver's side hit a tree pretty hard. He is thankfully ok but the car is hurt pretty bad.

I am looking for an answer as to if you can straighten a 360. I have heard different stories about the tubs and what can and cannot be done. Does anyone know for sure if these cars can be straightened? The frame rail is bent into the seat about an inch. We are not a repair shop and the customer is storing his car in our warehouse until he figures out what to do.

Stephen,

You might want to post on www.ferrarichat.com also.

Also give Ferrari of Houston a call. They have a factory authorized body shop.

Well, it's aluminum, so not everyone will have the skills and tools required to do the job right, if it can be done at all. Good luck.

Yea, that's the thing about aluminum. The integrity of the metal is compromised after being distorted. I am sure it can be fixed but the issue is can it be fixed safely.

From here.....http://www.ferrariofhouston.com/bodyshop.htm

Car Bench Frame Machine

The only factory authorized machine for frame work on Ferrari automobiles. Extremely precise (settings are in millimeters) and mobile, the Car Bench comes with extensive set-up data and jigs to facilitate the repair of all makes, not just Ferrari and Maserati models. The Car Bench is the perfect machine for use in the repair of the Ferrari 360, including the Ferrari Challenge cars. The car bench has a self-contained, motorized system of arms to pull frames back into alignment after they have been damaged. The Car Bench was installed by a representative of the company from Italy, who also provided additional training.
