Opinions on 550 Maranello
Hi Guys,
As I am going to be moving to the city (SF) and I am now rethinking my choices for a second car if I get one.
Originally I was going to get the Gallardo, but no more once I saw the pics of the new 997TT and the performance specs.
The problem is the new 997TT will be 130K, and knowing me I would end up modding it and wasting more money.
I have always loved the 550 and I see prices in the low 100's. I personally also think the 550 is such a classy car that only needs tubi and some nice wheels (nothing else!).
I look forward to your opinions on the 550.
thanks guys.
Fred

The 550 is a super sounding car but it's not gonna be a 'driver' sadly.... They're known for having expensive upkeeps. I'll never forget the sound of those things in the ALMS races at Laguna. Still the best sounding sports car ever...

550 is actually more reliable than any other F car. However, maintenance isn't cheap either.
I think I called 550 before in your earlier thread. The only downside to 550 is it's aging looks. A black or gray one is pretty dope.

550 is more of a GT Car than a sports performer IMO, worlds different from the 997TT and the Gallardo. As mentioned above, the subsequent release of the 575 and Imola will surely hit the 550 depreciation wise...

thanks guys for the feedback. I would love to get the 575 but that's more then I want to spend. I want to spend no more then $130K after taxes and all.
I saw a beautiful dark grey one tonight and it's such a gorgeous car. Its lines are stunning!
I have a friend who has a 550 Black with Tubi and it just sits in his garage. I think it's a 2000 and probably has less then 3K miles. Hopefully he will sell it to me.
thanks again for the feedback as I will take what you guys say into consideration.

Fred,
Jem Motor Corp in Hollywood has 2000 550 6MT with 13,623 miles. Asking $125,900.

Silicon Valley Auto Group in Los Gatos has a 99 550 6MT with 16,xxx miles. I don't know how much they're asking.

Unfortunately I can't purchase right now.(will be looking in Sept) Selling my house for close of escrow in August and moving to SF in August. Still negotiating on getting a second parking spot. If I can't get that second parking, the Ferrari (or next car can't happen).
thanks again guys.

The 550 has been one of my dream cars for the longest time. Is it going to be able to clear all those hills in the city? Anyway, good luck in your search.
This was my wallpaper for the longest time, good motivation.

Love the 550/575. Pictures just don't do these cars justice. They look so amazing in person. If you're going to go fcar, v12 up front is the way to go. Plus you gotta love the little golf club holder behind the seats.
