Rob & Co. are working hard over there......
FerrariChat.com will be down until apx. 10pm Central.
We were good after the backup this morning, everything was up 6 hours without problem and then I ran a Db scan that brought the server down and corrupted the db again. I have been trying to fix, but will have to go back to the 1/2 backup. I will avoid this next time by not doing a comnplete scan all at once the crashes the server. FerrariChat.com Db Recovery: missing posts, etc... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I apologize for the outages this past week. We are working with the host and various software companies to find the root cause. The symptoms have been site unavailable, Db errors, missing forums, missing posts, and even missing users. Good news is after our experience loosing some attachments 2 years ago that we now have a very robust offsite backup system in addition to our RAID 5 drive configuration. Bad news is if I can't repair the current data, then we loose everything back to the previous valid backup. The complete offsite backups are run daily. I've had to do this twice in the past week. first) backup restored early Saturday 12/30 from Thursday morning 12/28. second) backup restored early Thursday 1/4 from Tuesday morning 1/2. So in other words all posts, user registrations, and anything saved to the db between 12/28-12/30 and 1/2-1/4 are gone. My plans are the following... 1) root cause analysis and fix to keep a crash from happening again. if more crashes, then more backups will have to be restored. 2) i have record of all subscriptions in the data loss period, I will go back and manually add these back. 3) all users that registered, posted, or PM'd in these data loss periods will have to resubmit. 4) for additional questions or to report bugs, please post in the 'site down info' in Ferrari Discussion (not model specific) under General Forums... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=133821 Sorry and thanks for your patience, rob
