that is such a nice car, but paying 100k over sticker seems a bit much.

yeah, that's not even close to retail for a 599. $200k over is about where things stand now.

people freaking out over paying over is just confusing. msrp is just some random number that obviously has no bearing on supply and demand for most ferraris. it's still a better deal (strictly from a $$ depreciation standpoint, not trying to make any comparisons on which car is "better") than paying $445k for a CGT that's worth about $320k now.

would it make people feel better if msrp on a 599 or 430 was $550k and the dealer offered a "discount"??

Either way, I would never pay over sticker for that car, let alone any other car. If you look hard enough you will be able to find one, and if not, then just order one and be patient.
There are very few cars worth the mark-up and those are cars that are very rare. The 599 replaced the 575, and they will produce many of them. Those prices will come down way before they go up. IMO.

Not just patient but VERY patient. There is a 2.5 year waiting list for the 599 and as long as someone is willing to pay the markup don't expect to pay MSRP for quite some time and even then it won't be a new car.

Well good luck with that crusade since pretty much every dealer in the country is refusing to take orders. Most believe the entire production of the car is sold out already and the dealers are already telling clients they can't promise them a car, those are the people who already have orders btw.

On top of that everybody thought they were getting about twice as many cars as they are going to get.

Right now the number is around 200 a year for the US. The other issue is that Ferrari is at capacity right now. In fact they are so overloaded that they are using the supercar line (which means they have to hand push the cars down the line) to build cars as well.

With eastern the eastern european and asain markets exploding Ferrari is constantly re-directing more and more cars to those markets. Where are these cars coming from? The US and western Europe. These cars wont be going down in value any time soon. To try and compare the 599 market to the 575/550 is foolish. The 599 target market is probably 3-4x as big as the 575s ever was. The 575 was an awsome car, but Ferrari allowed the V8 models to look so extreme everyone favored them. The 575 was an awsome car, but they marketed the car all wrong. The main difference between the 575 and the 599, is that most people consider the 599 to be a sports cars as well as a GT where as the 575 was mostly a GT

I really want a 575 right now though!
