You gotta love Free market economies. Yes, thats what people are paying for a 599.

Ferraris have low supply and HUGE demand.

How would comments change if MSRP on the 599 was 1/2 mil?

I think it's rediculous!! My buddy just went to a Ferrari dealer here in Miami to order the 430 spyder, and they said it was impossible, and they wont order it for him. He told them he will give them 20% deposit, and doesn't care if it takes 1year or 2 to get the car, he just doesn't want to pay 400k for the car. They told him that the only way he was going to get one is by paying that outrageous price. They said to him that the only way to order one from them is to have bought 4 or more other ferrari's from them. He had already bought a 360 a while ago. That is not a good way to gain new clients. He is now going to buy a Gallardo Spyder. I couldn't believe that they wouldn't even accept an order from him! I think that there should be more protection from the manufacturer on this topic.

Background:

I used to think the same thing about Ferrari.

I NEVER pay over MSRP on anything. Not watches, cars, whatever. Well sometimes over on Snakers, but thats another story. Collectibles not included.

---

The sooner you accept the Ferrari game, the sooner you'll have one.
The Ferrari game is one wicked *** game. Prefered customers, flipping contracts, etc... , etc... The dealers have their customers trained to get on their knees for a car.

With Ferraris it's a supply and demand issue. Every car they make they have a buyer for. They don't care if you go and buy a G-Spyder because they already have a buyer for all of the cars that they are going to make.

I stopped looking at MSRP on Ferrari cars. If you like something enough, buy it. Cars are NOT investments.

For awhile I had mentioned to friends why would I buy a F430 Spider VS. a CGT? Used CGTs = 350ish Used 430 Spyders = 300. In terms of car performance etc... etc.... it's a no brainer. 50K more for alot more car, but you still don't have a Ferrari F430 Spyder.

As for manfacturer protection, they don't care. As long as supplies are low we'll have "The Ferrari Game".
