AMS drives Bugatti Veyron - 402km/h 250 mph!

I read somewhere this engine makes 3000hp. 1000 to cool the engine, 1000 lost by heat etc. and 1000 for the wheels. Seemed a bizarre way to describe the engines power. Makes me wonder what other cars make that is lost to cooling and inefficiency.

I guess if you have that kind of money sitting around, and you already have a 140 ft yacht and a Gulfstream, why not?
And if you can buy this car, you probably already have a Carrera GT, and some other toys.
Wouldn't you?

It's competition is NOT a CGT/Enzo or anything of the sort. It has ZERO competition. Is it the rich mans ultimate GT car. That's all it is. It's not a car to go around the track at the fastest time. It's a car to get out and enjoy on the street. Heavy or light.
not to mention one is a 2 million dollar car while the other is a measily 500K

Just a recap.....this thing weighs over 2 tons and does 0-62 in 2.5s
Im sure there are some dragsters with similar #s but much cheaper. I think performance driving is not just streight line jibber jabber, Im sure this car can handle but what about changing direction while flicking through some "S"s? It surely will not have that race car feel and many of you say its a GT car.....why would anyone want a GT car? ...over a PERFORMANCE car? I always feel GT cars are for expensive dates OR old guys (no offense).

I think it's an amazing car (beyond the crummy VW marketing), the DSG alone makes it worthwhile!

My family has been in chartering business since the 60s and I have a 114 Broward RPH with 10 foot cockpit extension by PJ, though Broward is the Toyato or VW of motor yachts. Dudes buying Veyrons may be in the 175 and up league, or at least Trinity, PJ, Feadship, Christensen, or Lurssen class.
140 foot used to be a big boat, but it does not even crack 100 or maybe even top 150 anymore. Some of these guys now have 60 foot tenders costing the price of a used Broward in the 80 to 100 foot range.
