Extend door tracks to ceiling?

Just bought a new house with a nice oversized double garage. I move in next Saturday. First project, get a four-post lift in there before Winter so I don't have to put my car into storage. The problem is that the garage isn't deep enough for the lifted car to clear the raised garage door. How tough is it to extend the tracks to have the door track against the ceiling?

Second challenge is making sure it clears the lift motor... but that can be resolved with a Liftmaster 3800.

Thanks.

Not hard. They just rework the track, recalculate/replace the spring, and with the jack shaft motor it can go rights against the ceiling. Just had it done recently and lift is about to be installed.

Was it a DIY for you, or did you have someone else do it? What was the price?

If you want to go through the expense you can install commercial roll up doors. They take up no ceiling space what so ever so you'll gain a lot of clearance for your lift.

Just a thought in case can't relocate the tracks. Be less expensive in the long run w/ respect to renting storage space.
