This weekend we are installing the roof, this is the progress of the first day, hired 3 guys to do the job because i had a hard time finding people to give me a hand in such heights. This is where you realise you suck at building things and how much out of shape you are when you look at those guys work.

Very nice. I am surprised you were able to get a city permit to build that in a neighborhood. I had to move out of the city to be able to build my garage the way and size that i wanted.

I once built a 10x12 shed and the city was on my *** for it being to big. Made me shrink it down.

the new law is pretty permisive in our city, you have the right to build 150% of the house footprint in secondary building (garage, shed, etc)

i beleive i was allowed around 1000 sq/ft on top of the garage attached to the house, i am at around 900 sq/ft. I could only build 28' front face and i used it all, i could have gone deeper though.

There used to be a limit in height but now the only limit is wall height, nothing on the roof. I beleive the limit is lik 11'6", i am at 11'2"

This was one of the criteria for me to buy this house, be able to build a big garage in the backyard.

wow belle addition!

Je me suis renseigné ici à Charlesbourg et la limite auquelle j'aurais droit est quelque chose comme 10x14, donc impossible de mettre une voiture. Je vais me contenter de mon garage simple.

What is surprising is the cost, 35k for a complete garage and they are asking me 10k just to put a roof over my 12x13 patio here.

the price of 35k is with me doing everything, if i had the complete garage done, it would cost probably cost close to double.

The only two thing i had done completly are concrete and the roof. (I hate height work)

I am always envious of people who can do their own work. I once built my brick patio; took me a full week, when someone competent could have done it in two days.

How long has it been?

Looks great, enjoy your hard work!
