Been a little while - but I just finished up a long term engine upgrade project on my C6 - and used about every tool in my garage.

My GF got me a set of 2 ton tripod stands to use under the car when it is up on the lift.

They are from Greg Smith equipment -and weren't priced too bad.

They are made in China and the hardware used to put together is pretty cheap - as I stripped out one of the bolts just assembling it - but they look pretty sturdy and I wouldn't have an issue putting a rear axle assembly on them - but I am not sure I would hold up an entire car with them - but for what I would use them for - hold up an exhaust pipe or something - they should be perfect.

Pic of the Vette up in the air after finishing up the engine project:

Another shop update - now that I have gotten the Vette fixed up, and the lift torn down.

I finally had time to assemble my last Gladiator purchase - this time I got there foot locker/bench assembly and I got it on sale through Lowes.

So far I have put my floor jacks in there, and some shop shoes - its nice getting stuff up off the floor.

garage project

Great write-up of you work-in-progress. Nice to follow a garage project that works on a budget!! What is the size of your garage? I have a 20x20 attached garage with a 8x12 addition ( can winter store 1 car in there) but no land for further expansion. You've given me great ideas for utilizing existing space- Door will need replacement and storage re-jigged. I have a portable sizzor lift and had looked at the 1 you have .
Thanks for the insight

Wayne - I'd have to go remeasure my garage but I think its 19'x26'x8.5' - something along those lines.

Quick update - I picked up a Gladiator stand up cabinet that is 36x72x18. It is there RTA series and was pretty easy to put together.

I got this on sale for Fathers Day - put it together, and got some tools, and other junk up off of the floor/my work bench!

It's just wide enough to get my shop vac out of the way, and put away my Dewalt tool bag that I carry my HF low profile aluminum racing jack in it. After doing 6 Power Tours and getting rid of the run flats - I never leave home on a long trip without it.

The model that I have supposed has the "EZ" setup to it - they threaded the bolt holes in the corners instead of the old design where you had to put a nut on the inside of the bolt holes - it saved some time putting it together, but I still think a nut would be a more secure connection.

Nice cabinets and lockers! That place is shaping up nicely! Yes, it is nice to get all that 'stuff' off the floor and organized...
