Yep, thats why I did not think of looking for the anonymous check box, because I assumed people wanted their privacy.

To each his own, exactly. Some people like to work in a beat down shed, some people like to use wood kitchen cabinets from 1975, and some people like to have a garage that is nicer than their living room

There is a trend right now to create the garage as a "second" living room, and use it as a selling point for resale. Lighting, flooring and cabinets being the 3 main features of the garage, even for your standard 2 car garage with a tiny bit of work room, I could easily see some people spending $2-4k on flooring (commercial epoxy, stamped concrete or porcelain tiles), $2-4k on lighting, and 10-20k in cabinets (color matched, built in sink, etc).

You should have made your poll how much "did" you spend on your garage instead of how much "would" you spend?

Believe me, if money was no object, I say why not? Go crazy with it. Plasmas, kegs, stripper poles. The works

My garage is a decent example of doing this on a regular guy's budget. I think the whole thing (everything you see there) was less than $5K and it should outlast the house.

I like having it nice and organized, but I don't hang out in there. It's just not big enough and costs a small fortune to run that AC I have out there.

I wanted to make it "would" instead of "did" because I am looking to get info mostly from people who have not purchased yet. Data from what people have spent would be good for showing a trend, but getting info for what the future market is better for what I am researching.

How much do we spend on our formal living and dining rooms? I bet most of us spend more time in our garages so why not make them as nice as the rest of the house?

Are you being funny or a dick? I can't tell.....

Okay professor, I will try to be a little more clear.

You have not been a member of this forum for a long time. You are probably not familiar with a lot of it's members or the demographics. There are a lot of kids and smart asses (I fall into the latter) here. If you put an option on the poll for 100K or even a million dollars, someone will select it. Probably more than one person. If you are looking to do serious research on this topic (which frankly I just can't get serious about), this probably isn't the place. I apologize for using slang. I didn't know we were being graded.

Go ahead and resume analysis of garage trends and the impact on future real estate values.

Boy, I am really slacking. I don't have a formal dining room or a formal living room. I only have one of each.

What is it you are doing out there anyway? Do you do a lot of your own repairs? I pretty much just go out there to either get the car or park the car.

Maintenance, mods, repairs, detailing......other household projects. I also have a workout area in the garage with a Vectra gym, stairmaster , treadmill ,TV and music so the garage isn't just a storage area.

Wow, that sounds great. Putting the gym out there is a perfect idea if you have the room.

I assume you keep it climate controlled all year round?

No taking the pole.
If and when I ever get to finish my garage I will prob dump a ton of sweat equity to finish it off. Cabinets for storage will most likely be high end laminate woodgrain. Mechanic type stuff will be roll aways. I'm not too bad at making cabinets. (hint, I have a German table saw worth about 40K)
