As Sharkster said, unfortunately no change in sound. Obviously can't feel any difference in performance either, if there is one.

Do any filters/airboxes provide improvements in performance or sound?

On the older 993's opening up the airbox give an extra 8HP. On the newer cars Porsche has done the homework before selling them so often the sound is changed but improvements will be marginal through exhaust mods. Cheap tricks are getting harder to find. Look how extensive the Evom and Sharkwerk mods are to extract more power.

Maybe if you change over to the GT3RS intake scoops and wing and add the exhaust mods from the RS to the regular GT3 you might be able to gain 15 more HP.

Never been a fan of oiled filters or reusable ones. Filters are meant to be disposable protection for the engine (like a condom .

I agree, I don't reuse, clean and reoil filters. I toss them. It makes a mental difference! I enjoyed installing it. I'm strange like that.

I am sure it is a great filter with better flow characteristics, but if no change in performance or sound, and like some of you that do not want to reoil to reuse, I am not sure why I would want one over paper. Maybe if combo'd to a ECU Flash it would justify cost?

A little late on this post but you guys had some good tips, so thanks. I'm trying to decide between K&N and BMC air filters...which one would you recommend? BMC costs about twice as much but also claims a few more HP over K&N.

Are you happy with the performance of the BMC filter? Thanks.

Looks like no performance gains so no buy for me in the future...why blow $150.00 on a filter that does nothing?

I had a BMC filter for my GT3 and it made my low end weaker. The GT3 has a relatively weak low end and this made it more pronounced.

I installed back the stock filter and never been happier.

Just a question but how does a drop-in filter make you lose low end tq? I could see if it was a poorly designed intake, but this is a drop-in to replace the stock filter. That and 'feeling' 1-2hp opposed to 'hearing' the difference...

I've only heard good things about these filters on the 996 GT3's after the ECU has been flashed (the pair together).

I'm just curious...
