Radar/Laser Detection at it's best!

So after reading a post in the 997TT forum this morning about radar/laser detectors I thought I'd put up a quick post about our weapon of choice here at Champion: The Passport 9500ci. So then I walked back into the shop and what do you know...we had an install going on right now! Perfect time to snap some pics!

The 9500ci is easily one of the most thorough systems available on the market today! It has all band radar detection and Escort's signature laser "shifting" technology, and it's completely undetectable by new police detector detectors! It's GPS functions are really ahead of the curve. I'm even considering ditching my trusty Valentine One for one of these bad boys!

Some other features include:
-AutoLearn
-GPS based safety camera locations pre-loaded
-Speed alert
-Voice alerts
-Mark location features.
....the list goes on and on.

Today's install was on a 2010 GT3. Here's some pics...enjoy!

The complete kit:

Components being installed:

As you can see from the pictures of the install (which was still in progress), this is a pretty serious install, but at the end of the day, it's the best radar/laser coverage available.

Feel free to ask any questions and PM me for more info or pricing.

Is it one jammer unit up front and one in the rear? Why do you say this is the best one on the market? My Escort 8500 has been fine for radar but I need laser protection.

can the pre-loaded GPS based safety camera locations be updated or are you stuck w/ what's preloaded at the time you purchase it?

And is that an antenna i see on the left side of this pic? Where is that installed? Does it need to be visable?

I had a 9500ci installed in my Cayman. I really liked the stealthiness of the whole setup. There was nothing visible on the dash or windshield to give it away. It's not a cheap system, but is worth it IMHO.

I want to put one of these in the GT3, but the installation seems a bit trickier. Where do the radar and laser receiver modules go? I have an aftermarket aluminum screen in front of the radiators, so nothing can be installed behind them. I suppose the radar receiver can go behind the bumper (this is how it was done on my Cayman) above the grilles, which is what it appears in the photos here. Some people argue that there is some radar signal attenuation through the bumper. However, the laser receiver must have a clear line of sight with nothing obstructing its field of view, so it can't go behind anything.

If anyone else has installed one of these in a GT3, I'd like to hear how it was done.

There is a software/USB interface that allows you to upload new location data in the system. Escort puts out updates about once per week, so you can always have the most up-to-date data.

Most installers leave an accessible port under your dash. Other end plugs into a laptop and boom you're done. While updating you can change any of a number of detector preferences including display etc.

To answer another question from a previous post, there are two laser shifters up front and one in the rear.

Unbelievable system - I couldn't be happier with it. The GPS technology revolutionizes the radar detector in my opinion. Not just with the speedcam locations, but with eliminating false signals. In fact, my understanding is that it helped escort with their decision to run two radar receivers up front for maximum sensitivity (which also automatically goes up and down depending on what speed you are travelling btw). Without it and that much sensitivity you'd be getting false alarms non stop around town etc. Not cheap with a good install, but well worth it in my opinion.

I just had the 9500ci installed as well. They did not hook up the radio mute, but I am going to. Do you have this installed? If so, can you tell me if it mutes during the initial power on test, a red light camera notification, or only a true radar/laser alert?

Thanks!

I've got the 9500 - no install, just plug it in and go, and it has paid for itself several times over on the tollroad to south OC, even with the instant on radar, it has done extremely well. Would love to get a pro install - but, have a list of other stuff I need first (like an RS haha)

There's a lot of debate across multiple forums between a V1 and LI combo or the 9500ci. What makes the escort your system of choice over the V1/LI combo?
